I think sustained winning is the only thing that brings it back to 40k. It's starting, though.

This is spot on. Syracuse did a nice job of getting tickets out into the community for Clemson but that is a one off they do every year or every other year. Those casual fans they got in for Clemson, 90% of them will not return for Wake. A win against FSU would probably give a decent bump but as someone else noted it then comes down to game time, weather etc.

Just got an update with some steps if you're having issues with the portal. I hope that means so many people are jumping on it that the server stack they use can't handle the traffic.

That's how I see it too. A streak of Clemson, Miami, FSU would've moved the needle with the casual fans. Right now, in their eyes, all we did was get lucky against Clemson.

The campus at SU is at midpoint for leaves...a nice micro-climate extends the leaves on the trees

Thank you for the details bees. That's what I was getting at. Why don't more people know about this? I follow the program pretty closely and this is the first I've heard of the ticket promotions. I can't tell if I'm just clueless or if there is no hope for anyone who is not a bona-fide insider. And I'm grumpy about it.
