Record Prediction

Wins vs uconn, duke, unc, colgate, pitt, bc, notre dame, smu

Losses at clemson, at miami and at georgia tech
The offense looks like it will be ok. On defense the DL alot of new faces, should get better, lb can't count on McDonald so everyone is brand new, and CB, and Safety alot of youth.
If they grow through the next few games, we might surprise some people by the end of the year.

Yes, it’s fair to say we won’t be favored more than maybe those 3 games.

That said - we’ve got enough size, speed, talent, and most importantly - depth,
to be able to compete against any team on the schedule.

We will just have to “steal” a few W’s (likely at home) over some of those favored teams.

And ideally grab at least one road upset W.

There’s still a path to 6+ wins.
It won’t be a gimme.
Just curious but weren't we favored in about only 3 games last year? Every team on our schedule has a glaring hole or two ... I just think there are a lot of coin tosses in terms of games on our schedule.

When was the last time we beat BC and Pitt in the same year? We will not be favored in the Duke game either.

If this culture is what I think it is, 4-8 or 5-7 would be disappointing results, and an emerging cause for concern. 6-6 is as low as it should go. I’m hoping for 7-5.
Yeah, that's one of the reasons this year scared me coming off a 10 win season. 6-6 with a chance to get a 7th after a bowl win, we can keep the momentum going with this kind of schedule. Anything less than that would be a kick in the nuts.

W this D & at our worst & w this schedule, 2-10 is possible.

4 more losses are pretty much locked in: ND, Miami, SMU, Clemson. So, 7-5 at best.

5 50/50 games. Run that table, win 7. Split & win either 4 or 5 total.

W improvement & wout injuries & if the pass blocking improves to, maybe we sneak one.

6-6.

Most difficult schedule we’ve ever played and we have a young team, especially on defense. I think we’ll be lucky to go 5-7. If we had a more reasonable schedule I think we could go 8-4. Still love where Fran is taking the program. We have to look at this seasons results with a grain of salt.

The most important player on offense turned the ball over three times for twenty one points. We can not win if that happens repeatedly. Right now our biggest problem is at QB.

Well we only had two turnovers … the INT was a great play by a defender so this is a harsh reaction IMHO. The fumble he lost … yes that was on him.

two fumbles , one right after we recoverd a fumble of theirs that was a scoop and score. 7 points. A second fumble inside our thirty and they scored in two or three plays. 14 points. An interception inside our thirty that never should have been thrown(poor decision) with a defender right in his face, 21 points.
My point in saying these things is in response to all the posts saying how our D was terrible, well the QB did not help us much either.

That QB play will not get us many wins. He can and I hope does improve, but putting the blame all on the defense is nutz.

Go read the box score .. we self recovered a fumble. We had two turnovers it’s in black and white. This isn’t that hard.its under team stats on ESPN.

Our defense gave up 7.25 yards per play. Good for #128 out of 134 in FBS and dead last in the Power 4. The defense was FAR worse than the offense

8-4.

Losses to Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame.

I don't think we lose to SMU, i'm not a believer in them. And i think we steal one against North Carolina, And i think we trounce Georgia Tech.

I think the scary game is Duke. I don't want to be 2-3 after the first 5.
I will bet you large sums of money we win less than eight in the regular season.

So you think Angelli had a good game, okay then, we will see how he does going forward. I do not.

Going 6-6

8 wins would be damn impressive. 4 wins if we spiral or get injuries

We lost a bunch of talent on offense but could still move the ball. Having a pro OC really helps here and not super worried about scoring points

Special teams looks better (not counting dumb decisions to go for 2 as special teams)

Defense is the disappointment and tough predict much upside there.

I see alot upside on the defense.
DLine got some good push against a quality SEC OLine. Our secondary will be fine, Samuels had some Freshman mistakes but will be fine. LB is going to be just fine.

I don't think it's fair to say this defense have much upside. Tennessee has a top tier offense and we held them under 500 yards, not many will do that this year.

Agree on our most difficult schedule ever and the schedule comment. But we actually start 7 Seniors on defense. On offense we only start 4 seniors if somehow Spoon is actually a redshirt junior like it shows on both the depth chart and the roster on Cuse.com. But that would require SU clearly can prove an injury happened and he gets a medical redshirt year in his first season in 2021 at Howard. Maybe that is the case. Would be nice.

I’m hesitant to pencil in any one particular game as a W or an L. Just have seen way less talented SU teams go toe to toe with Clemson in their Watson/Lawrence heyday, and way more decorated SU teams tripped up by worse opponents than this year’s UConn side.

But we’re undefeated in ACC play. Everyone just watched a young SU find out first hand what game speed looks like against a quality opponent. Let them learn and adapt. No one predicted a 12-0 record preseason. There are a lot of tough lifts on the schedule but you cannot convince me today that 0-1 Clemson or ND are automatic losses.

Hope to see some players grow up fast. Lots of ball left to play and all I really took away from Saturday is that a young team without much game experience got their doors blown off but showed enough grit to keep punching. Had they been able to avoid absolutely killer TOs, it might even have been interesting at the end. Let’s see what happens.

7-5 is my gut prediction. We win one game we “shouldn’t”.

W’s: UConn, gate, Duke, SMU (the win we shouldn’t), Pitt (only because we are home), unc and BC.

L’s: TN, Clemson, GT, Miami and ND
