If Petro was such a recruiting savant then where are our super high end defensive recruits in the 2024 class? I still do not believe that he was also the main reason we landed our top offensive recruits, especially since March has made some great moves recruiting high end guys before he got here. Being unable to put together an actual good defense on the field will always more than cancel out any benefits he was bringing us as a recruiter. It was a good day for us in the long term when he decided to move on.

Do all these talented players come to us through the portal without everyone on staff grinding their asz off, including Gait? Not going to bring up instances where players mention gait as a reason for joining since the people I would be trying to convince are locked in and stubborn as hell. He will have nonsense thrown his way on here until he wins three nattys back to back. It is what it is. Plenty of stuff here is not even worth touching.

If it ends up being a down recruiting year, which is far from guaranteed, the main thing I would point to are issues that have been haunting us for about a decade or longer. Playoff performance and results in conference, changing recruiting landscape, academics, location, etc. Our success in the portal tells me guys still want to play for Syracuse. When it all plays out we will have our guys coming in for 2025.
