Recruiting area breakdown by class

Slow day at work, so I took a shot. A couple notes:
1 - TOS's commit lists only go back to 2002, so P got shorted by one year.
2 - There are a few prep/JUCO's in there where their post-HS team was listed instead of their actual hometown. I didn't bother to resolve those, so states with those schools are probably overstated a little bit.

Thank you, a list like this is my idea of a good time.

Rough regional breakdown from the list above:

NEW YORK STATE: DM - 30% / GR - 32% / PP - 18%

SOUTH (FL/GA/TN): DM - 25% / GR - 6% / PP - 7%

NORTHERN CORE (NJ/PA): DM - 18% / GR - 23% / PP - 24%

MID-ATLANTIC (DE/MD/DC/VA/WV): DM - 10% / GR - 28% / PP - 24%

MID-WEST (MI/OH): DM - 10% / GR - 3% / PP - 1%

WEST (CA/CO/KS/TX): DM - 6% / GR - 6% / PP - 10%

NEW ENGLAND (CT/MA/NH/RI): DM - 1% / GR - 1% / PP - 8%

CANADA: DM - 0% / GR - 0% / PP - 7%

I would like to see us try and get some kids from the Carolinas as well. Let's leverage the fact that 5 schools from those states are in our conference now. There is some good talent there.

What do we have to offer, as a Northern ACC school, that the 5 ACC schools in those states couldn't? I could just see it as a case of getting the leftovers in those states similar to alot of what we used to get from NJ.

I think we certainly can get 1-2 kids a year from those states. We are getting kids from GA, where their classmates are going to SEC schools. Certainly we can get NC kids. Also I don't think it is recruited as heavily as PA and NJ. Which increases the chances of someone falling through. Plus some kids like to get away for college. We can offer them that plus they still get to play in front of family and friends.

Good breakdown. Most of that makes sense based upon who the asst coaches are and their own ties.

DM has been heavier in the south due to Adkins and even himelf.
GR was heaviest in the mid atlantic states due to White's connections there.
DM is heavy in the mid west due to Wheatley
PP was heaviest in NE because that is where he and Deleone (and others) had contacts.
Not sure of the connection to Canada for PP.

Assts change and come and go so that is why it is important to maintain a "core recruiting base" and most coaches have said that is pretty much a 6 hour radius (drivable for families). So I think we need to pick it up some in PA/NJ and get those numbers back to where they were and also since we are going to the ACC it would be beneficial to target the mid-atlantic more once again. It's great getting kids from the south sometimes, but it doesn't appear that most of them are working out as planned especially the florida kids.

I guess but Carolinas have 5 ACC schools and 1 SEC vs GA putting out more BCS kids with only 1 SEC and 1 ACC school in state. I'm a big fan of what we're trying to do in GA. We could recruit greater Charlotte area like we do greater Atlanta though.

I like the idea of recruiting OH, and MI for the same reasons you stated about the Carolinas. Some kids want to get away, and maybe not play Big X or Big East football. Also, being ACC should give us better visability in NJ again as well being that we can offer something different which we currently do not. If the coaches want to get more involved in that area, now would be the time.
