They matter.

We absolutely have to get more 4 Stars and a 5 Star here and there to compete year in/year out for ACC Championships and to dream about CFP Playoffs.

That being said..

Eric Dungey 3 Star
Sean Riley 3 Star
Taj Harris 3 Star
Nykeim Johnson 3 Star
Jamal Custis 3 Star

If you have an identity, and players that fit your identity, good things happen.

That 3 Star Aerial Assault is one of the most prolific Offenses in College Football.

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again. More michigan/philly/dc/and oswego oregon kids

Yeah, I said this in another thread, but we're playing over our heads based on raw talent. Thank the system for that.

The hope is that proving success without highly rated talent will appeal to highly rated talent.

Getting to 6 this season is big because the way the schedule lines up next year just isn't going to be as challenging. Stringing together winning seasons and Top 25 appearances is how to build big recruiting momentum.

I think the fact we only have half of a class committed at this point was a bit of a gamble by the staff to let our on field performance do some selling for us with the recruits. At this point they can now sell bowl game, program on the rise, etc.

I like this idea and hope it pays off. You have to swing for the fence if you want to hit a home run. At this point there are plenty of mid to low 3 stars we can sign. Let's get some high 3's and 4's. I think we'll already have a solid base next year but we need some elite athlete's who can make a difference.

If we want to curb stomp some of these ACC teams then we need to sign some 4 stars. Otherwise the margin for error stays slim. The last 4 games were literally decided by a play or two.

No. This sounds good if you haven’t followed recruiting for years. Very few teams get a mix of 4/5 star players. We almost never, in our history, get 4/5 star players. We’re never getting an influx of 5 star players and likely a lot of 4 star players is not likely either. Our bread and butter is having good evaluators and getting mostly 3 star players and maybe some 4 star players here and there.

It’s just reality based on a number of factors.

Posters literally just listed a bunch of 4 Star guys that will be playing next year in this thread.

I’d sleep way better if our class was wrapped up. But man, if that is their gamble, and if it does pay off, then ... there may not be words.

We just need a sustained commitment from the university. We have lightening in a bottle. We need to keep it, and those mid 3’s will turn into high 3’s. Then they’ll be 3’s and 4’s. That’s what we need.

Keep the staff, and keep investing in facilities, and the rest will come together.

A bunch? A small handful. I’ll put a paycheck down right now that we aren’t getting half our recruiting classes as 4/5 star recruits even 5 years from now.

Anyone who follows recruiting over the years would agree with me too. Can we get more 4 stars and maybe a 5 star once in awhile. Hopefully. So did Greg Robinson. But we aren’t going to get some massive increase in 4/5 star recruits.

We’ve also never been good in the ACC before so that past data really can’t be compared all that accurately.

CFB has shifted to the Southeast but we play in the ACC now. Landscape, our philosophy, our conference and our HC are all way different than what you’re attempting to compare us to in the past. That can be bad, good or the same for us...but it’s very different.

I absolutely think we can have recruiting classes that consist of half 3 stars and half 4 stars in the near future, but more likely a 60/40 split with the high profile recruits littering the Offensive Side of the ball.

Not to be a jerk but with the amount of 4 stars there even are in the country, that’s just not going to happen. Half of our classes made up of 4 star recruits? Again, I’m not trying to be a jerk but you dont seem to follow recruiting that closely. There are less 4 star and even less 5 star recruits in the country, we aren’t filling half our roster with them.

BUT... I’ll defer to bnoro and happily apologize if I’m way off. bnoro please read this thread and give your insight.

That would be a monster recruiting class, but I’m saying it can happen, as opposed to you saying it will never.

More likely, as I posted, we could see a strong 4 Star presence on the O side. Defense, here and there.

Programs like Bama, Clemson, OSU, FSU, maybe a few more - can get half or more of their recruits to be 4*'s or above.

It never happened here, and it ain't ever gonna happen here.
Nabbing a few 4*'s, and the rest mostly 3's is likely our recruiting ceiling.
It is what it is.

Just like with hoops: Syracuse will almost never beat out programs like Duke, UK, Kansas, etc for the Top 10 kinda guys - we just need to land one now and again, and fill out the rest of the roster with the guys in the 25-125 range.

Right, that’s what I originally said at the start of the thread. Our goal is almost all 3 and really strong 3 stars with a mix of 4 stars and maybe a 5 star here and there. And we’ll have really good teams every single year in this system.

There are 33 five star recruits and 399 four star recruits. Not a lot to go around.

That means our "fair share"of four star recruits is about 7.5.

I'd be ok with that and five star every other year.
