Recruiting Rankings & Stars

I’d be happy if we can work our way up to #5 in the ACC.

FSU, Miami, and Clemson can wake up and be above us in recruiting.

Pitt, VT, UL, and arguably GT all have advantages that we don’t (in location and/or lax academics).

Losing to the top group, beating 3/4 of the next group, and not losing to any of the rest is a perfectly fine showing that will keep us competitive year in and year out, and it will set us up for occasional special seasons.

GT lax academics what? Never mind thats for location ... yes that is their biggest advantage.

I don’t see VT not having a healthy amount of academic fluff for the football team, but the academics comment was mostly aimed at UL.

I can see how having to take calc at GT would be a tough pill for a football player to swallow. But GT, Pitt, and VT all have good recruits in their bubble of fandom. We don’t.

I think it is realistic for SU to average 4-6 4*s a year, and have half the rest be upper 3*s, maybe a 5* every 3-4 years. This would a significant jump in our talent pool. That talent with Dino could take us to the next level, which might lead to even better recruiting, but I think our limit is well below top 10 classes.

Agree with most of your post, but I believe that HCDB will have the Orange winning regularly. Talent will go where t hey can play. Elite talents want to see the field as much as any other player. So long as the tea offers them a real opportunity to win and showcase their talent, the team will be in play. Even UT, TAMU, LSU, UM, et al., are able to draw talent because of the history of winning. I believe top 10 recruiting classes will come as long as HCDB keeps winning.

Obviously, this is splitting hairs, Just trying to add another point of view.

I don't much care about the Star ratings as long as the kids continue to have other P5 offers and options.

SU commit Dorian Hewitt is rated 2 stars at rivals and he just took and official visit to Utah last weekend.

Rutgers signed a Juco WR over some school named Delta State (true had to look it up) and rivals rates him 3 stars.

Our Juco OL had offers from West Virginia, Arkansas, Pittsburgh and Rugers. Rivals gives him 2 stars.

I could go on and on about the rankings/star disparities.

The Stars really don't matter as long as you're beating out peer schools for the players.

If we were mostly beating out peer schools for 2* players, then our peer schools would be Rice, High Point, and UTEP.

huh?

Peer schols are P5 schools. I'm talking about 2* guys like Tisdale, Courtney Jackson (Baylor, Cincy, WVU, Kentucky, Northwestern, BC), Cole (Kansas St, Kansas, Pitt, Rutgers, others) ... Cole by the way was 1st Team All-Broward.

Do people really care that Jackson is only a 2* rating?

If we want to curb stomp some of these ACC teams then we need to sign some 4 stars. Otherwise the margin for error stays slim. The last 4 games were literally decided by a play or two.
The BC game, Louisville ??
