Red is Mike Hopkins

JB's influence aside, did SU ever have a "chance" to hire Oats? I know it gets mentioned here often in retrospect given Oats accomplishments. I'm wondering if "SU missing on Oats" is more of a board myth than a missed opportunity that never really existed.
I know there were some “higher ups” that really wanted him and I know he had some interest but also could be more “what if” too. I know Oats was very interested

He probably prefers this to someone like Oats coming in and winning a title right after he's pushed out.
Yeah, he's almost certainly cheering for failure at the program he was instrumental in building over his 60 plus years at Syracuse University.

You know when F1 drivers crash into their teammates sometimes? The upside of being intensely competitive is wins. The downside of being intensely competitive is that...you're intensely competitive.

I can't imagine he's at all rooting for failure nor happy with the current situation. But that doesn't invalidate any conjecture that this would be easier to handle than immediate, overshadowing success, especially given how...awkwardly...the university handled the exit.

Hey man, you're not doing this right. Come back when you embrace the negativity.

Giving him credit for last year is pretty annoying JB would have had that team in the tournament.

The Stewart McDaniels Trainwreck season for Hop can't be compared to this year just way more talent on that squad. It was the type of thing you cant really come back from and I'm pretty certain this years the same for Red.
