Red Presser 10AM Fri

It's funny that announcers still reference Syracuse liking to run and fast break even though that hasn't been the style for decades now.
After 2012-13 to be precise. The fast break died with Ennis. Still don't know why that 13-14 squad decided to slow it down, especially since halfcourt shooting wasn't their strong suit. Grant, Fair, Xmas running the break... c'mon.

There is no way JB trashes his legacy by not being at this Presser and showing his support for AA. I do not think he will speak because if he does all of the questions will be about him when the day should be all about AA.

I hope he speaks, and opens with "I am going to talk about my great friend and new coach, Adrian Autry. I am not taking any questions, so don't ask..."

I wouldn’t say decades but definitely not in recent years. They picked their spots better this season I feel though. But like the MCW year for example I feel like we got a lot of fast breaks.

Seriously though, even if Red intends to go man, he will not say out loud in an intro presser that he is abandoning the zone, the signature defense of his coach & mentor regardless whether JB is in attendance or not. He is going to say something like he is going to work extra hard to scout the opponents to deploy the defense to give them the best chance to win.

Keeping players here and Dr. Strange'ing the portal for studs is his # 1 priority now... tactics can wait til later...

I think he might have better options in the media than fundraising for SU. A role in the AD with input on hires is probably all hes interested in I doubt he wants to just shake hands and fundraise.
Media jobs would require him to travel a lot, and I don’t think he likes a lot of traveling. I mean, maybe in studio for the tournament only.

We still like to get out on the break when we can, especially since the zone creates lots of turnovers, but we haven’t had the athletes to do it in a while.

I do look forward to Red's tenure, and would love to watch a season where we are not the less athletic team on the court everytime we play. ( including the Boston Colleges and Buffalo of the world )

There is absolutely no chance Red gets up there and announces they’re moving away from the zone.

None

Get it out of yours heads, aint happening tomorrow

It will be interesting to see how he answers the question tomorrow because it will come.

He ain’t playing any zone. Ever. Lot of full court press and man
Looking forward to seeing the type of guys they will go after in recruiting. We are all accustomed to the skinny, physically underdeveloped type guys who are “raw” and “projects”

Always thought in the back of my mind once the zone is gone we might see some more grown men type guys on the team.

As always, appreciate your insight and perspective.

Another thing I hope to hear is a desire to return to up-tempo and fast break offense. It's been so long that even some of us old-timers have forgotten we used to play fast.
Isn’t a fast break a candy bar?

One thing I am MOST looking forward to is getting legitimate lead guards to run things.

Not combos, not tall guys who are good fits for the zone -- point guards drive the bus in college basketball. Don't care how tall they are.

Copeland is pretty tall though.

I like Copeland. But, new coach. Remains to be seen whether he fits into the plans going forward.

And justifiably so. Red's being held accountable now, so he should get to choose his players. Would love for Copeland to be a great player for us. But if Red recruits over him or wants a different type of guy, then time to move on.

I could be wrong but I think Copeland fits where Red will go.

Q fits perfectly into a press / man team - kid is a disruptive force. Of all the guys this side of Jesse and Judah he has to be in Reds plans IMO.
