Wouldn't be that crazy. Think about what pitchers the Red Sox are missing right now:
Josh Beckett
Clay Bucholz
Daisuke Matsuzaka
Those three starters are out, so instead they have to pitch Tim Wakefield, and Andrew Miller twice a week. Neither is even average at this point. Wake is better served as a reliever, and Miller is just not good at all. That combined with Lackey being terrible, and the Red Sox have one reliable starter right now. Lester.
The test will be later this week when the Sox and Rays meet in Fenway for a 4 game set. The Sox need to AT LEAST split to take the pressure off. Otherwise, they are in deep trouble.
