Rejoice, Skytop tailgaters!

Just charge each food truck like a $500-$1,000 fee to park up there each home game. Then they make money without having to lift a finger except to sign the hold harmless agreement. It would be awesome to have 5-6 food trucks at Sky Top serving all sorts of local specialties. Would be a nice treat for the visiting fans too.

It would have to be a smaller number... My Dad makes tons from catering on weekends without a park fee and for a guaranteed sum. But those are details to be worked out... Maybe I'll talk to him see if he can't make a contact up there,

How many cars park up there? Any idea?

Wouldn't 2 or 3 Food Trucks be about right?

The problem is the number of people that park up there at the last possible minute and just hop on the bus to the Dome. That number shouldn't really factor into the number of cars that park up there that would potentially be of use to food vendors.

I think at least one food truck should be allowed there without (initially anyway) a parking fee. SU doesn't offer anything so it's not taking money away from the school. Also, it would make parking there more attractive at $17 a pop or whatever it's going to be this year. If the demand grows, the school could allow additional trucks at a fee. The fee suggested above seems rather excessive. $1000 for the season?

Depends on the game. FSU last year probably had 3,000+ cars and RVs up there. They ate up a large chunk of parking with the track and field development up there so that would have to be accounted for somewhere else.

2 or 3 food trucks could be ok for most games but your LSU, Clemson, and FSU games may get chaotic.

City of Syracuse charges $1,500 for food truck permits in ideal locations. The only other place that these food truck vendors will see this volume of drunk & hungry people would be the State Fair and/or County Fairs. How much do those places charge for a multi-day event?

If you let one vendor sell from University property, you have to let all on them sell.

That means T-shirt World will set up tables to sell crappy overpriced shirts.

SU doesn't want any competition for customer spending. This is understandable (and why we won't see outside vendors).

What's a head-scratcher is why SU doesn't want to encourage a tailgating scene by rolling out one of its own food trucks at Manley or Skytop.

If they do decide to let outside vendors on SU property, I call dibs on this bad boy for the Fine Lot.

Nah..private university

They can select number of vendors to operate on their land.

yes...but realistically it is only for a 2-3 hour window 6-7 times a season and is highly dependent on the weather, team record and opponent. $500-1000 for a season seems more reasonable.

That's what I meant- not per game. You could have a $1,000 season permit or a per game permit for like $250.

I have seen a TON of pizzas delivered to tailgates up there. I actually got one for half price before when the person who ordered it couldn't be found and I was in the right place at the right time to benefit.

we have a NEW AD who might be looking for ideas and simple win/wins. I really think the first goal is to see if this is something that can fly.. doesnt SU sell food on the quad already? SU Dining must have some ability to handle this.

Somehow someone actually had a good idea and the SU food on the Quad includes Dino BBQ. :p
