My expectation is still 4-1 though we only need to go 3-2

Christ, sign me up for 3 wins.

We're going to learn a lot about our players / coaches over this upcoming stretch.

IMHO, Best case is 3-2. No way a team like this strings 4 wins versus 4 opponents fairly close in level of skill.

IMHO worse case is 1-4. I figure law of averages we win at least 1 game.

We just lost 56-0 to a 3-3 team who needs every win with the exception of FSU just to be bowl eligible. Last time that happened it cost somebody their job. I'm all for supporting the team but any type of bowl expectation after what we've seen against 4-3 NW, 4-3 GT, and a Clemson squad who got schooled on their own home turf is beyond rational thought. NW and GT are bubble bowl teams, we have no business talking about a bowl at this point. Raymon is gone for the season, we have no functional QB, and a defense who has given up an avg of 29.2 pts/game against BCS level competition while averaging only 16.4 pts/game against those same teams. We aren't one or two plays away from winning games.

We have no business thinking we can win 3 games from the above? ooookay.

Hey gomer why even follow this team the rest of the season then if you have no hope

I'd love to jump on the optimist bandwagon but jeez man, we're getting throttled, these games aren't even close. There's no more Tulanes or Wagners on the schedule either. The Dome won't be much of a factor the rest of the year unless we are playing for a bowl against BC. 30-35k tops for Wake and it won't take much for the crowd to get restless and bail. Locals don't like teams who get blown out. We don't have a functional offense and our coordinators have no game plan. Our running game is all we got and GT stomped on it. 0 points to a .500 ball club coming off 3 losses. It's not like we were playing some unbeatable team.

If I can sit through Akron '08 then I can sit through this, doesn't mean I have to like it or can't talk about it.

Phat thanks for breakdown like the post... Rest of you crybaby fans can keep being negative and don't show up... Don't need ya believing

With people ready to fire coordinators, or commit hari-kari, there isn't much need for rational thought about the state of the team.

I expected we would be favored against Wake, at least; now it looks like most will write-off our chances. But we got whipped in an away game, by a triple option team, coming off 3 loses to good teams. Bad combination.

But the game at NC State proved we aren't as bad as we looked in the first half against Clemson; we can't be as bad as we looked against Ga Tech. When things go bad, they can escalate. Now we have a bye week to shake it off.

There has to be improvement on offense from Hunt, Broyld, Kobena and the TE position. The running attack, with Macky healthy, should be OK.

On defense, we need Davis to be healthy. Can rotate guys to replace Rayman. Some of the DBs will get better. Estime provides some juice as a returner.

We have 3 home games.

I don't need to know what terrible game you sat through to validate your fandom. I agree it sucked to watch but we lost badly let's learn from it move forward and hopefully come up with some creative schemes to move the chains. Hunt is young and at this point lost some of that swag he had. I would like to see some nice easy plays to build him up.

I got a little fired up earlier no doubt, I just think any type of bowl talk at this point is putting the cart before the horse. We have alot of things to fix to be competitive against these teams on the bowl bubble. Even if we get to a bowl, my worry is that the teams in the lower bowls are going to be teams like GT and NW. We are dysfunctional and repeating the same procedure that got us here is a recipe to repeat this dysfunction the rest of the season. I won't be putting my tickets on stubhub anytime soon either. I bleed orange same as everyone, I just don't have the same blind optimism that others here have. I've been a Lions fan for 30 years, you can't wish yourself out of these situations. We need better gameplans, better preparation, and better gameday coaching or we are up the creek. I've seen very little from our DC to make me think he can hold a team to under 30. Our offense averages less than 20. Something has to change.

Ah Akron...I remember the only time in my life...so pissed I actually walked twice around the Dome during the game asking myself why am I torturing myself with GRob FB?

Folks it will get better again...maybe even this season but Pyle is taking a glass half empty approach and that is ok. Our team is teetering on the "we suck/we average" apex. I see 4-6 wins at this point myself.

all the games are pretty much even teams except for the beatdown florida state will give us

I can understand this post better.

Remember the kids' game Chutes and Ladders. That's what this season feels like. We climb a ladder and think we're getting somewhere, only to fall down a long chute. But bring on those ladders!

any bowl game would be fine as we could use the practices

For whatever it's worth, I think Old Dominion is actually a 1A team now.

I'm hoping for 3-2 but in reality, 4 of these games could go either way. Even Wake. Tanner Price really seemed to enjoy throwing in the Dome last time, until Chandler Jones broke him in half. Maybe that will be his lasting memory.

If we do plan to lock the ACC teams inside the Dome, now would be a good time to start.

I will take 3 wins.

first we have to know what defense we are running- a 3-4 or a 4-3 or 5-5-1 or 9-1-1

once we know the defense it will be easy to determine wins

did anyone actually watch wake play this year.. were we not one play away from winning against PSU? we could just as easily win 4 as lose 4, but to give up hope because we played 2 bad road games and lost to clemson is pointless.

if everyone is going to start running the option or throw like craazy we are in trouble. but that also means everyone outside of FSU has to run an offense way better than they have shown this year.

If we lose to Wake, what on earth are you going to chalk it up to? I haven't watched them, but their result against NC State is pretty similar to ours, so I have to assume the two teams are more evenly matched than we like to think. Plus they have an experienced QB, who I did watch (with my own eyes) shred a Scott Shafer coordinated defense just 2 years ago. Now they'll get woodshedded by Miami this weekend and we'll all feel good about that, but I just can't put it in the auto-win category.

As for us, as long as we don't have to pass the ball, I feel somewhat comfortable.

wake had 400 vs presbyterian, 240 vs BC, 350 vs Lou-monroe, 350 vs army, 220 vs clemson, 370 vs NC st, 300 vs maryland.

maryland lost the game Wake did not win it.

we can lose, but they have one player on offense that does anything, they have 4 games with under 60 yards rushing and only 3 games have thrown for over 250.. that suits our style of D. we will be favored after they get throttled this week by miami. this game is all on us. They have a NT that causes havoc. again that plays to our strength in having a running game.

NC St was a 7.5 on the road against Wake and a 6.5 fav at home against us.. we will be favored by 3-5 pts..

they have miami then us then FSU..

many thought the team was done after clemson then went on the road and dominated.. the GT style got in the heads of too many players.. watch the game again.. they dline spent the whole game protecting their knees, no push at all. the offense panicked when the game got out of control. we got shut out and still score more than wake does. our worst game of the year and we still ran the ball better than wake has in 5 of their games..

our game to win.. we will win.

Price and Campanaro are going to give our secondary fits. Seems like they've been their forever. We're going to have to win a 34-31 kind of game. If our offense is stuck in neutral, we're in trouble. But I think we should be able to run on Wake.

Add to that Maryland lost its 2 best players on offense last week and now gets clemson who should out for bear. we win vs Wake and the outlook changes again.. lets hope for the best..
