Remembering the 1959 Syracuse football national champions, the greatest team in school history

The movie The Express had many inaccuracies for movie drama but it does highlight who the best players on that team were.

Great articles. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Every SU fan should have this book:

"Syracuse’s saving grace that day was Penn State’s inability to convert after touchdowns, they missed on all three of their kicks or two-point conversions. "
No two-point conversions back in the day.

Yes there were. it started in 1958. We won this game because Penn State failed on one.

My Cuse pride and joy, '59 Ernie Davis and team and coach signed national championship ball

"At the post-game banquet after the 23-14 Syracuse win, the three Syracuse black players were asked to leave after the speeches, meals and the handing out of trophies. They were taken by representatives of the NAACP to another party."

What an absolute abomination.
