Reply fields

I am having problems replying to messages. I type in the reply field, but the text doesn’t "stick" and jumps all over the reply field, creating hieroglyphics..I've tried everything including deleting the Syracusefan link and reposting it to my phone, but nothing works. Any ideas, suggestions?
