Can't remember which article it was the last few days, but I saw something that caught my attention. It seems that the guys love working for Shafer in part because he lets them have time for their families and lives outside the job (relatively speaking, of course, no question it is still a very demanding job). This is a big selling point, IMO, and a reason to stick around even if someone else offers you more money.

If Acosta and Adam prove their recruiting chops as quickly as it seems they might, we need to get their $ bumped up ASAP.

Syracuse simply cannot compete with the bigger schools and their payrolls - guys will always move on, it's just the nature of that business.

True. But I'll also point out that the AC positions haven't been the revolving door that they were under P and GRob, either. Marrone made some changes, but it wasn't like coaches were leaving for "better" jobs. And Shafer has held onto his guys, too.

That type of year-over-year continuity of the coaching staff is going to help us get to the next level, IMO.

Love this staff.

Shouldn't this be easier to accomplish with ACC money?

It should help, but we will still be on the lower end when it comes to paying coaches. imo it's BS that we can pay the Women's Lax, and Women's Bball, some of the highest salaries in the country, but then when it comes to the money sports we are below average for P5 conferences. We should pay our coaches proportionate to what the rest of the league does because if the Football coaches can't be paid the most for their sport then the Women's Lax sure the hell shouldn't.

It's an easier lift to make a woman's lacrosse coach highest in the nation vs assistants in college FB. Don't agree with it, but it seems that's how Gross is rolling.

Wonder if we finish 8 wins if it means pay raises?

Pretty sure they are already fighting over the money. Shafer realizes they are going to need to increase the assistant salary pool in order to retain some of the guys. We can't lose assistants to peer schools, or even what happened with Perles last season.

If coach q is one of the highest paid coaches in the country for womens hoops that's terrible. He hasn't earned that at all...

Before you start talking more money, you need to wait, and see where this new chancellor is at.

The additional ACC money they are now receiving should mostly go toward the football program as football is the main source of it to begin with.

The first $7.5m should go to the University departments who all had to pitch in for the BE exit fee.

Guys, pump the damn brakes. It's been 1 year. Show me a second year before you start renegotiating. In this thread were already talking about raises for Adam and Acosta. They have been here the equivalent of a trial period. Wth?!?!?
