Retire Clemente's #21 ?

Buster Olney wrote a blog article that is currently on ESPN's Baseball page suggesting that MLB should retire Roberto Clemente's number, like it retired Jackie Robinson's.

He doesn't offer a lot of justification for his article other than Clemente was a great player and died while engaged in a selfless act. While I think Clemente was a terrific player and may have been a shining example of how a player can be selfless I don't think what Clemente did rises to the level of the contributions that Jackie Robinson made to baseball, sport and American culture in integrating baseball.

Roberto Clemente was my favorite player as a kid. Made my father drive me and my brothers from Syracuse to Jarry Park in Montreal to watch him play a year before he died. One of the most exciting players to ever play the game. The biggest hero in Puerto Rico of all time.
