"Smart" schools are getting good at football:

I've always thought they would make a good conference:
Army, Navy, Air Force, Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Rice, Northwestern and Stanford.

Good read. It's interesting to see how open Vandy is about lowering standards to try and build their program, which isn't the case for Stanford.

I'm not surprised that Stanford and Northwestern feel they can build successful programs with intelligent, hard-working student-athletes. I love this quote
"If I have to sell a kid to the admissions department," said head coach Pat Fitzgerald, "I doubt he's a good fit."

It must be easier for coaches when they don't need to "baby-sit" those who feel they should be handed success. It makes me feel good about SU football's vision to apply some of those values.
