Ric Beardsley

Apparently he is the co-head coach of Darien HS (CT.) Darien has been a dominant top public HS lax program.

Darien has a Simmons/Boeheim-esque tenured coach (Brahmeier) who is likely in his last year.

Kind of stunning.

It's already been announced that Beardsley is taking over. CT public school league is better than many d3 conferences. My alma mater (SLU) gets a Darien player practically every single year, kids are always day 1 contributors.

wow, is that for real? Had not seen that news and am shocked with his track record

Beardsley mentioned it over a week ago in his interview on CuseSportsTalk (posted in the Spring Practice thread)

seems like a tough community for someone who doesn’t necessarily have the thickest skin.
Darien is a 20,000+ town that is built around lacrosse. They’ve had a revered coach of 40+ years with health issues but to go to an outsider is shocking.

Some irony as well: they do not allow kids in its youth league to use long poles until seventh grade,I believe. Wonder how much Ric will love that.

I do question the fit personality-wise, and think Darien could have made a much better hire. But I don't think Ric will have any issues with their Youth League traditions. While he's only been on the staff for a couple of years, Beardsley intermittently ran preseason clinics for the high school team dating as far back as 2009, so he does have long-time familiarity with how and why Brameier ran things the way he did.

The Darien Youth League genuinely one of the five best youth programs in the country, and churns out a lot of defensive talent -- their way of doing things is beyond question. NEW-1 has been able to poach more heavily in recent years, which is the only reason they've dropped off from being a perennial top 10 team nationally.
