Rickie Collins

And he's from Jersey if memory serves.
So Nunzio coached at the kids HS. He was a major recruit coming out of HS. 4 star.. all everything. Kids a stud. Looks like Kyle's profile. Google him

Why would he enter the portal when he is next man up at Notre Dame??????
Oh I don't think it will happen, this is just for fun. But who knows, maybe ND wins the natty (gross), they grab someone in the portal, and then they have some quarterback controversy? Idk.

Yeah would love to get him but Leonard is out of eligibility and Freeman knows how good this kid is
Exactly. If ND goes transfer portal again, then I could see it. But I would not be surprised if the kid goes to spring ball as the odds on favorite to win the QB battle at ND.

Hopefully Fran has a good feeling that Williams is ready to lead the program next season? Questionable, and whoever it is will be a giant step back. Right now I see 3-5 wins.

You would not have found a bigger fan of McCord than me last offseason. I remember our own fans downplaying us signing him.
I remember it being universally celebrated on here. Even the downside of McCord was much better than what we had been accustomed to and finally we had someone with big upside.

Getting a guy who just played 12 games in a superior conference was part of it and something that isn't going to happen this off-season.

It's ok to take a step back next year and look to 2026. Also ok to see multiple guys first 2-3 weeks before ACC play if we are getting blown out by Tennessee and then doing the same to Colgate. Makes settling on the starter for the first ACC game easier.

The QB competition should be interesting with the deepest room in memory. One question remaining is will there be a surprise in the Spring portal? While I doubt it as it appears that we have cast our lot with Rickie Collins, however, with Coach Fran you never know.

I may be wrong but I believe the offense staff is far better than it ever was under Dino and, if I am correct, the QB evaluation is much better, meaning Collins may be the real deal. If JW beats him out that will be an impressive feat. Either way, we might be better off than we think..
Whoever is the starter will benefit from an improved oline and a wealth of receivers, Not to mention that both RC and JW have had excellent coaching and experience practicing against the ones over the last year.
Now, neither is Kyle McCord, however, both are running threats, which has to help. I have to believe that Nixon can make hay with that attribute.
With a few more key portal additions, especially those with multiple years of eligibility remaining, the 2025 roster could be stronger than 2024. We are also likely to have some pleasant surprises from our incoming class and redshirts.
It also goes without saying that our special teams will be better than last year, if only because they can't be worse.
I freely admit that I am a hopeless "glass half full" guy. Happily Coach Fran is making this view less uncomfortable.
A disappointing 2025 season is not a forgone conclusion. Stay tuned.
