Stanley Dural, Jr., of Buckwheat Zydeco, died a couple of days ago at 68. I went to the Tulane game in New Orleans with Texanmark Excursions a number of years ago and came home with an appreciation for Zydeco.

For your enjoyment in his memory:

 
I booked him twice at the Arden Gild Hall here in Delaware. A wonderful sweet person who told me that his goal was to pass this great Creole music down to the next generation.

To that end, he invariably brought kids onstage at his shows to sing and dance along with him and his band.

While he had struggled for years with diabetes, he recently learned that he was suffering from lung cancer.

I'll never forget him and, even better, my kids and their friends will never forget him. Here's a brilliant song he did for a post-Katrina benefit album (Ry Cooder on slide guitar):
