Chuck Negron, the Three Dog Night co-founder who sang such hits as 'Joy to the World' and 'One (Is the Loneliest Number),' has died. He was 83.

They had a string of hits as good as any other group in that time frame. Real classics. Never knew about all his struggles with drugs. RIP.

A friend of my husband (they went to Niagara U together) was good friends with a member of 3 Dog Night having grown up together in Buffalo. Every time the band played anywhere in the Buffalo area he was given back stage passes and a job at their concerts/so my husband got to work at a few too. It was funny, his friend had been to so many concerts that anytime in a bar etc he heard “Jeremiah was a bullfrog, he was a good friend of mine”, his friend would put his hands over his ears and get as far away from hearing it that he could ( song was actually “Joy to the World”). His friend had heard it so many times in concert, he said he couldn’t stand hearing it being played. I just remember the guy who would run outside with his hands over his ears and have a smoke whenever that song came on.

My parents also went to Niagara for their first 2 years of college. Then I came along in March 1969 and they had changed course and returned to the Albany area.
