Philbin, key defensive cog on Jets' SB team, dies

Former Jets great Gerry Philbin, a defensive cog on their Super Bowl III team and an all-time AFL team selection, has died at age 83.

I attended the University of Buffalo 1963-64 where Philben was the best player by far. I noticed in the article that Rex Ryan has a photo of Gerry on his desk. Rex ‘s father is Buddy Ryan who coached at UB that year.

I also heard he was a brother in my fraternity. He was not active.
