Gumbel was incredibly versatile and called almost every major sport at one point, but like for most people, his voice is absolutely synonymous with Selection Sunday.

He's one of the greatest sportscasters in American history. I will miss him a lot.

Thought the NFL was what he was best at as the lead PBP guy before Nantz for CBS. Also called some classic NBA playoff games for NBC in the 90’s as their #2 behind Marv.

I loved it when he would say "the number (fill in a number and even better if it was a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) seed, Syracuse will take on (fill in team) in the (fill in location) regional..." It was pure joy to hear Greg announce our game.
