Alan found his son Jayce unresponsive on Saturday. No sign of trauma or foul play. Jayce's mother says fluid found in lungs.

Did some snooping and saw a Facebook post from the mother (public profile) that "the Griffin family will be held responsible" with a "Justice4Jayce" hashtag. She either removed or edited the post because it was no longer there when I checked only a few minutes later. I didn't notice when it was originally written.

Edit: looks like she took a snapshot and posted to her IG, which is/was still there:

Her and Alan are no longer together, and Jayce was in Alan's care over the weekend. A final autopsy is pending, and it was preliminary results that indicated no trauma or foul play. For everyone's sake I hope that remains the case. Perhaps her Facebook post was the misplaced anger of a grieving mother searching for answers.

GoFundMe page (organizer wrote Jayce Riggs in the body instead of Griffin so it's coming from the mother's side and my guess would be that the Griffin family was not aware or even consulted before it was set up):

Why is the news article about Adrian’s grandson but no mention of Alan’s son… odd

Because the link is from a Wisconsin news station and Adrian is the Bucks coach, so his name will get the clicks on the link.

This is my worst fear. I have a 2.5-month old and I wish I never learned about SIDS or other things like this. Constantly worried at night. I hope Alan and the whole family find peace. Would be tough to go on after something like this.

It’s the kind of worry people tell you about before you have kids but nothing can really prepare you for the anxiety and lost sleep and relentlessness of it. Every nap, every night, it might not be at the forefront of your thoughts but it’s always there.

Just horrible. This can happen and no one is at fault. Just read a story about a woman in Australia, I believe l, who was exonerated after serving years and years in prison. She had 4-5 children who all died as infants. The theory was what else could it be but murder? Turns out they discovered a congenital defect which could have caused their deaths.

ESPN doesn't mention it, either.
(I didn't click the Wisconsin article)

When I first read the OP my initial thought was secondary drowning. Wonder if they have a pool and he had an incident, recovered and then the fluid took him.

Jeez, great, now I have another thing to worry about. We have a pool.

Okay, I am dense this morning (but only in the mornings!). Is this OUR Alan Griffin’s son?

Devastating story. Hope the Griffins can find peace over time.

Drowning is the leading cause of death for US children aged 1-4. You can't overstate the importance of teaching little ones how to swim. You can teach babies as young as like 9 months how to reflexively flip onto their back and float if they ever fall in a pool.

The pool is a greater concern for you than SIDS, by far. When my boys were born and did the research, I saw a report showing about 85% of SIDS deaths wre occurring in homes with a smoker. Pretty strong correlation there.

We also had a pool, and the town should enforce code so that a stranger can't just fall in. It's not enough to fence your yard, I also put a fence around the patio and made sure children were always monitored if that gate was opened. Lock it with a key. I did rescue a friend visiting as she wandered into the deep end and was clearly starting to drown. Swimming lessons should be up there with potty training.

Good luck

It’s very very rare in this day and age thank goodness, I know you will still worry but hopefully a bit less, I went through it with both of my kids too

My wife and I were talking about taking additional precautions. We just had our first kid and he's 2.5 months, so we would probably do it next spring. Also have 2 clumsy dogs (pitty mix and a frenchie) that don't like the water we worry about falling in. It's an inground pool and the whole backyard is fenced in, but there's nothing directly around the pool itself. We were talking about one of those temporary mesh fences surrounding the pool, and also a sensor that alerts us if a large object goes in the water. We'll start swimming lessons as soon as we can.

I saw the news pop up first saying Adrian Griffins grandson now seeing Alan uggh obviously its tragic no matter who.Just awful and tragic :(
