RIP Jerry Sloan

Fantastic player as well. Big guard, one of the best defensive players of his time. Those Bulls teams in the late 60s/early 70s were nasty, but couldn't quite get by the great Knicks, Lakers, Celtic, Bullets, Bucks teams of that era. They had Sloan and Norm Van Lier in the backcourt, and Bob Love and Chet Walker at forward, but never had the center play of those other teams.

RIP, Jerry.

Never saw him play but he was a hell of a coach. I was always intimidated by him as a kid watching him coach. He's on a list of many who had championships stolen from them by number 23. Rip Jerry.

Lots of great respects paid to Coach Sloan today on social media. He and JAB have a lot in common. Grew up in a small town. Coached in one place successfully for a long time. Stubborn and tough as nails. Sloan eventually quit when he got fed up one day but went out on his own terms. Probably same for JAB.
