Thanks for that. I watched the Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary show on PBS a few nights ago and she spoke quite lovingly of him. He was an institution in American media culture.

watched it as a kid, and then it was on every day with reruns during lunch at college.. a whole group of us watched it and ended up late to class several times waiting for some of the classic lines before we walked out the door..
