Rip Lou reed

coincidentally, we were watching Rocky Horror last night and someone commented that Frankenfurter was unimaginable without Lou Reed setting the precedent . . . never heard that before, but it makes sense now that I think about it.

His influence is immeasurable.

RIP Lou.

Without him, no Bowie, Talking Heads, Cars, punk, yada yada yada..

For those who don't know, that Stonesy song SU has been using as a promotion is "Head Held High" that Reed wrote for the Velvet Underground's Loaded album in 1970.

As I learned to play guitar this song and especially this intro, if you could master it, would bring you respect and admiration from anyone you played with.

Simply emblematic as one of the best rock and roll intos/ solos ever written and played. First solo by Steve Hunter who went on to play with Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, 2nd solo as Lou takes the stage was by Dick Wagner.

Yeah, and many of Lou's key songs are written in the easiest chords possible. Kinda like Neil Young. I'm a horrible guitar player, but it's neat to find something that can take up non-hoops free time to delude one's self into that fantasy that we matter. Like that guy with Jennifer Love Hewitt interests.
