One of the early tall, big-armed quarterbacks that would become the prototype for the position for many years. Had some tremendous years with the Rams, and one excellent season for the Eagles. Also appeared in an episode of Gilligan's Island. RIP, Gabe.

He also appeared in the 1969 Western, "The Undefeated." In November of that year the Rams came into Franklin Field, just that, at 8-0. Eagles led 10-0 at halftime but the Rams came back to remain "Undefeated."

I think that was his MVP year. That was a good Rams team that faded down the stretch.
