Recently, I posted about a study I am conducting regarding rivalry and realignment in intercollegiate athletics. In particular, I am interested in gauging rival perceptions of fans impacted by realignment. If you would like to give your opinion regarding your rival team in the current and future conference and have not had the chance to take the survey, please follow the link below.

I filled it out. Not a very well done questionnaire. Most questions can be paraphrased as "Are you a knuckle dragging idiot?".

not even Jeff Gillooly would answer some of those questions

Regarding the e-mail address, there's no privacy statement attached. Gee, it didn't ask if fans would shoot a rival's player or kill his dog? Some really wacky questions there that people might just answer sarcastically rather than honest answers.

I hope so. "Would you like to break your rival coach's leg?" Hmm, let me see. JT III? Yeah, I'll break his leg.

The "Final Report" of this will probably emphasize that enthusiastic fans, like most of us here, would believe irrational things and commit felonies directed at our rivals.

I know. Questionnaires like that from a future Big East school can only help fuel realignment.

I've developed many research studies myself over the years and that's just a pretty weird questionnaire. I'll have to pass.

His data won't be very good. I think our current rival is UConn and our future rival will be PU. I hate PU so badly that I don't want them to be our rival, I just think the mechanics of the ACC are going to work it out that way. I despise PU way more than UConn. But I have respect for UConn as a real basketball power with some (although recent) pedigree. Pitt has nothing. Nothing. It's no different than being rivals with North Dakota State. They have an equal pedigree in college basketball to PU.
