I know there weren't but the game is still on my DVR so I'll entertain you. I can't wait until after I watch the game again and then you say, "well what I meant by that was..."

I just watched it tonight. I can count. You obviously have a bias.

going into the year we all thought we would have a special unit of WRs. I see Van Chew as someone you have to get going early to keep him in the game. If he get a couple catches early and gets a big gainer he obviously seems to have better games. He has either dropped them or we miss him on a deep route. Its frustrating to watch and we will need him ot break one against wvu.

We all thought what?

Speaking only for myself (hence negating the concept of "all") I thought we had a pretty pedestrian WR unit (especially when Dr. Feelgood got booted) and desperately was hoping one of the youngens flashed some playmaking skills.

sorry scooch i forgot your "god". before the season started a lot of us were confident in our WR unit.

Before or after the Sales Weekend?

As I remember, this place fully melted down after that. Consensus was that we didn't have enough good receivers to offset his departure.

Thing about receivers that I have always found is that the really good ones seem to make an immediate impact, we are starting to look at receivers and running backs like o lineman, like they need all this time in the system before they can make plays. Lemon was pretty good his freshman year hes pretty good now, yes he has gotten stronger. Sales the same. My point is the true difference makers at wr seem to always play from day one, it's one the best spots where a true frosh can make a difference, a guy like mike williams.

Pure raw athletes like kobena and Graham can definitely develop but a true game breaker has it from day one, imo. Mike Williams is/ was a ridiculous talent. Hell the kid had some of the worst practice habits ever at Syracuse but he was just a fantastic talent.

Hopefully we find more of these kids who can come in and rally make an immediate impact because we need them

We will get those kids eventually. But before we can do that, we have to bring in the ones who will develop. For now though, I will play devil's advocate. Almost none of our greatest receivers made huge impacts when stepping onto campus... and we have had some good ones. Marvin Harrison (#1 in career receiving yards, caught two balls as a frosh), Rob Moore (#3, caught 9 balls as a frosh), Art Monk (#8, 2 receptions), Kevin Johnson (#9, 6 receptions as a soph), and Mike Siano (#10, 20 receptions, also as a soph). Even Scott Schwedes, Mike Williams, and Quinton Spotwood, all of whom blew by the others when it comes to freshman production, caught only 21, 24 and 17 passes, respectively. And Sales, everyone's favorite misfit, only caught 14.

We have Kobena successfully showing us legit speed in the return game. Jarrod West should at least get to double digit receptions, while possibly reaching the Schwedes, Williams, and Spotwood level. And even though Dorian isn't young in age, he is in experience, and seems to take another step in his development every couple games or so. Hopefully he can help keep the pressure off the kids for one more year by replacing Chew as Lemon's counterpart on the outside (which is good, given how far he would have come, and bad, because Chew has been rather pedestrian since his groin injury of last year and is just not looking that hard to replace).

What can I tell you? People consistently overrate SU talent. They said our OL was going to be awesome too and I didn't buy it either.

Agreed, Now, its NEXT year will be the year for a breakout year on offense, another year for Nassib, another year for the O Line, etc etc etc. Same old same old, it's only been 13 years since we have had a decent offense.. somebody needs to look at why? It's the GD systems these coaches have been trying to run and the 45 O coordinators that have all sucked

Nassib hit his ceiling, I don't see any real improvment from the kid, call me crazy, he is at best a very very average college qb who has had his best games versus our weakest opponents and had really poor games versus conference foes, I am sure there is an outlier or two but the fact that he is still by far our best QB year 3, shows me that they completely whiffed on Loeb and Miller. KInder is was a bit of a project

Um Wake Forrest is better than all but WV in the BE this year. Nassib had a GOOD game against them. I love how one bad game against RU negates the other 5 games this year.

I know this misses the point a bit, but we sure can't draw any conclusions about Nassib or our quarterbacks in general because he's starting over a kid who's awaiting disposition of an agg assault charge.
