Talked to my parents who live in FL now this AM and they knew about SU winning the game by reading the Sunday newspaper (game was blacked out in FL) - first the headlines featured the FSU-UF game. Parents say ACC is covered a lot down in Florida and said under the ACC recap section Duke was featured next then SU-BC game and it went something like this (I had them read it to me):

"Terrell Hunt hit TE Josh Parrish with an 8-yard TD with six seconds left as SU stunned BC to become bowl eligible for the THIRD TIME in FOUR YEARS".

Some more was written but the 3rd time in 4 years stuck out in my mind. Some here have posted that going 6-6 versus 5-7 wasn't important I say to you that is how you get back on track to regain a level of respect needed for recruiting purposes especially in the big recruiting state of Florida!

Why some SU fans don't get that Rome wasn't built in 1 day is beyond me? This win was huge people - Billy Huge!

Rutty built their entire program on going to the Toronto Bowl, the Texas Bowl, and the Beef Bowl. You bet your @$$ I'll take the Military Bowl or whever else we end up. No one remembers who you beat or the records, they remember the bowl eligibility

People are generally far more willfully ignorant than we like to think. Before the Penn State game I was talking with coworkers that are Penn State grads, who all assumed that Syracuse was something like 3-9, 4-8 last year. It should be noted that these same people knew that I had gone to the Pinstripe Bowl, saw the pictures I posted from the game, and talked with me about it the following week. Let that sink in for a minute.

Someone posted a while back about asking people at the ACC media day what they thought Syracuse's record was, and a significant number thought they finished last in the Big East. These are people that are paid to be informed, and they are, generally, that ill-informed.

People generally draw a conclusion, and will disregard all data that doesn't support that conclusion until there is literally no option left but to discard the original belief. Right now the belief nationally is that Syracuse is terrible at football. I'm not sure that people can make the belief change to 'Syracuse might be good at football' without some major event - either a Duke-like season or knocking off a #1 FSU in the Dome next year. But little things like that blurb in the article you cited certainly help along the way.

This season was bizarre because, becoming bowl elegible is a huge deal in our first ACC year however every big game was a complete and utter embarrassment. Out talent level is good enough that we can beat anyone not ranked in the top 25, however when we play those top 25/fringe top 25 teams - NW, Ga Tech, Clemson and FSU we don't even look like we belong in the same stratosphere.

How can the talent level be there to finish 3rd in the ACC Coastal division, beating all our Coastal opponents outside the big 2 and losing close games to similar teams (PSU/Pitt) yet looking like a JV squad against more talented teams. This is the next step in our growth as a program and will help alot with our perception when were a 7-5, 8-4 team who doesn't get annihilated by every good team we play.

Judging by the young talent we have and our recruiting, I'd say we're on our way to doing that.
