It seems Rondae Jefferson is starting to pick up some momentum. There was a front page feature on him on both espn recruiting nation and scout and they were saying he was almost a Kyle Anderson clone. In a recent interview he said he wants to play pg in college. Does our status as the lead with Ennis hurt our chances with him. I know Francis said earlier it was us and Pitt in front, was wondering if anyone thought that may have changed. I really like his game it seems perfect for our style

Article in this morning's Philadelphia Inquirer said he is high on Temple because of his exposure to the program, his brother plays for Temple now. Didn't exclude others or indicate it was his preference, just that he viewed it very favorably. Actually didn't mention us.

Jefferson eyeing Temple

Jefferson may be the 2013 player I want the most. (Apologies to Mr. Ennis...your a close 2nd) A 6-7 player with potential point guard skills. In a recent Primetime Shootout game he put up the following line: 15 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists, eight blocks and five steals. Incredible! ESPN article says he literally played all 5 positions for his team during course of the game.

Could work on his outside shot tho.

Thought we were recruiting him as a PG, but that could actually mean point forward. As we have seen, there is always a need for ball handlers on the floor and at Cuse, he can run the offense from up top

Well, we always look for skilled combo forwards - good passing and ball handling skills is something Syracuse has looked for in recruits forever. We were one of the first programs to use the forwards to help break the press, going back to Derrick Coleman and Billy Owens.

Of course Boeheim will always be remembered for the 2-3 zone, but to me, one of his biggest innovations as a coach is the use of 3 and even 4 forward lineups.

Sure, people go with the 3 and 4 guard lineup all the time, but at SU, for many years we have loaded up our team with agile, lanky forwards, and have deployed them at the top of the zone for better defense. Think about the 2003 team for a minute - we spent a lot of time playing a 3 forward offense - Melo, Hak and Duany, or Melo-Hak-Pace (who was much more of a than a guard for most teams).

So long as we had one or two of those SFs who were adequate from 3, they were be the preferred guy on the floor. It's partly how JB compensates for rebounding deficiencies in the zone, by having another forward sized guy at the guard spot (and even sometimes at the center spot).

Good point. Triche is the size of many D1 SFs at 6'4. Stronger than most also.

Yea I saw and thought the same thing. I really want to see him in Orange. One of the things that has stuck out the most in the different things you see on him is they all mention his competitiveness. A guy with those abilities and that edge is a rare. I'm not saying Jefferson is Kidd-Gilchrist but the fire he brings to that UK team really helps put them over the top from good to great. I would love to be able to bring in a guy like that. Then pair him with a potential combination of Ennis (his long arms were made for the top of that 2-3) and MCW and you have 3 guys with decent size who can facilitate and create for others as well as finish.

Yeah having a 6'6 MCW and 6'7 Jefferson at the top of the zone would be revolutionary.

MCW and Jefferson up top with A combination of Rak Coleman Grant(who I think will be a great fit) and fair along the baseline would be a nightmare for opposing teams.

You could roll out a 2-3 zone of Jefferson MCW Fair Christmas Coleman
6'7
6'5
6'8
6'9
6'9

I would love to land both Jefferson and Ennis. Someone as versatile as Jefferson could play the point, shooting guard or small forward. That is huge. Work on that jump shot Rondae!!!
