Just read this a few seconds ago and seemed like a great guy plus we recruited him too.
I remember watching him that year and thought this guy might be a Heisman trophy winner.Unbelievable talent.Incredibly sad story. I'm obviously speculating, but I wonder if his injuries that derailed his career were just too much for him to emotionally overcome.
He was insanely good his freshman year at Purdue in 2018 - 114 catches, 1258 yards, 12 TDs. Those are like first team All American type numbers.
But then he pulled his hamstring in 2019 and was never the same in college. He got drafted, but then he had constant injury issues since joining the league.
So so sad. As good a time as any to remember, at the end of the day, all these kids are human. Spectacular athletes but human with flaws/anxieties like all of us. Prayers to his family and friends. Horrific news.I know that it's not this simple, and this may not even apply to this situation, but we need to stop telling kids from the time they're 8 years old that sports are the end all be all. We've elevated them to a level that it's not good for mental health. Sports should be fun, and there needs to be life outside of them.
Based on a poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson. There is a song by Simon and Garfunkel that I would encourage anyone to listen to. It's called Richard Cory. Eye opening.
