Bees said: "What you saw vs. OSU is what BT is best at, with the ball in his hands. He is not good at standing on the wing waiting for a pass that may never come. He also isn't a Rautins come around a screen type shooter, which we didn't run much of anyways." (my views on Triche and others follow)
JB has noted many times that he expects Triche to be the man next year. There are several reasons for this and I am not ducking the issues now:
1. Triche will be the senior on the team and we know what that means to JB
2. Triche for whatever reason deferred to Scoop and others--I think it was to keep team chemistry--there were a number of games that Triche was hot and then never got the ball from Scoop and KJ...I know I mentioned this often but most thought i was just a Triche guy...no I am not...I am a 'Cuse guy
3. Triche has always been better with the ball in his hands and passing and making the decision to shoot or not. When he goes to the wing and waits for the ball...that never came his way even with hands flopping for the pass...was a waste of talent...MCW will share PG and shooting guard with Triche and play off of each other. In the few games they were in together I thought team passing was much better than with Scoop pounding the floor...note Scoop is more creative than Triche and more likely to make a sensational play or a Scoopid play.
4. Defensively, Triche and MCW will be more active than Scoop...who at times took defensive time outs
5. CJ will be a better 3 than KJ...better shooter from 12-15 feet and a good driver with a better handle; watch out for Grant who I believe will be the best 3 since Wes...Grant and Fair board better than KJ whose overall play and rebounding regressed this year.
6. DC2 plays with back to rim and has good post moves. Ketia, Christmas and Noel(if he shows) do not have low post offense aside from dunking. Keita had 11 boards against OSU and if he could gain 15 pounds of muscle he would be terrific...and Xmas has the size just needs the ability to go after the ball on boards.
I know this may be hard to believe, but I am looking for this team to be better than this year...so allthough grateful for what Scoop, KJ and Waiters did for us this year, I beleive that the team coming together for next season will overall be stronger, better, and more cohesive. If Cooney can truly hit the 3 and dirty continues to improve, #s 6 and 7 will be as good as this year and #8 and #9 big men will be better...prediction: 16-2 BE, winner BET and NC.
