Roster & Needs As Of April 14...

Not a P4 D1 player? Were these impressive highlights not against P4 D1 schools? Looks solid to me. Good low post moves and footwork, old school bully ball scorer, strong finisher at the cup. OF looked much better as a freshman than Kyle or Lampkin ever did so seems like a good get if it happens.

He is not remotely as good as Kyle (a top defensive player in CBB) and would be a downgrade from Lampkin, similar on defense and playing below the rim. He was unplayable at CU and not due to injury and they had zero bodies at Center

First time chatter (so I know many won’t believe me), but I have a few nuggets to share that I believe a couple of other chatters likely could also confirm as well.

(1). Owen Freeman - Has actually been on campus very recently for a visit. Serious health questions stemming from an injury playing pickup basketball last year. Staff wants more clear answers to abt his last year and thus brought him in for a visit. But, I believe there is huge interest from us. If medicals check out could be an absolutely massive get.

(2). Alex Wilkins - Very unlikely. Kentucky trying hard to convince him of a 6th man/bench scoring role. But we are clearly not in the lead here, and that is likely due to blue blood interest, but also our choice as well.

(3). There will be two centers brought in. One more offensive minded big and another more developmental, athletic, defensive minded one. I know for a fact we are targeting Freeman but another SEC school is trying hard there as well.

(4). NIL - We are in a decent spot. I was told to expect around $10.5 mil with the potential to exceed to $11.5 mil for the right player.

This is what I know at the moment. Obvious things can change quick but this is current info at this moment.
SUtoga. Hmm. Lots of good info. You must have a good connection. Welcome aboard. Keep posting. What are you hearing on Folefac?

I’ll have to dig more. At first glance all his metrics are elite. Nothing in his stats how him as unplayable. Evan Miya has him as Creighton overall best defender.

Looking at the current state of the team, here are the guys we have committed and what IMO we still need for next year.

Returning Players
Sadiq White - Forward, Sophomore, 6-9
Kiyan Anthony - Guard/Forward, Sophomore, 6-5

Committed Transfers
Gavin Doty - Guard, Junior, 6-5
Tasman Goodrick - Center, Senior, 6-10
Garwey Dual - Guard, Senior, 6-5
Aiden Tobiason - Guard/Forward, Junior, 6-5
Mark Morano Mahmutovic - Guard/Forward, Freshman, 6-7
Ryan Moesch - Guard, Freshman, 6-0

That is 8 players on the roster, leaving 5-7 remaining adds. We are rumored to be connected to:

Francis Folefac - Forward (Siena)
Hudson Mayes - Guard (UC San Diego)

We currently have:

3 Guards
3 Guards/Small Forwards
1 Power Forward
1 Center

Need at least two more big guys, probably one that can be a PF/C backup hybrid and one true starting center. Wouldn't be bad to have a developmental center either and I wouldn't mind another 6-8/6-9 wing. Then the rest are either improvements to our current roster construct (high end PG or the like), or backups.

Need starter caliber players at
* center
* power forward
* point guard

Hope we haven’t spent all our $$$ on 6'6 slashers.

Oooh, oooh oooh oooh, weeee😂

Seems like a value play, if you get him cheap you take him. He's in no position to demand anything coming off injury and having a bad reputation over the last 2 years but at the same time Centers cost money, even the one's with skeletons in the closet.

We need 2 bigs as well.

His advanced metrics counter this both this year and last. How’s that possible he’s unplayable but the metrics support him so much?

Still think it's likely he's coming, do believe he visited this weekend, as has been rumored. I can't tell you with 100% certainty however he is coming as I have not heard that directly. That report that came out saying he had multiple other P5 teams interested was suspicious. Seemed to be a leverage play from the agent to get SU to raise or match. Longer it goes the more i'm convinced Gerry will wash his hands with the entire situation, but still think he ends up here in the end.

My wife will be upset if doesn't sign for Syracuse. I'll ask her if she is willing to write a check to up the ante.

Kyle was an amazing athlete who could defend well bc of his elite athleticism and strong effort. But other than that, his game was severely lacking - couldn't shoot beyond 3ft, had no low post game and was a poor free throw shooter who shot like a Martian?

Great kid, terrific athlete and I wish him well on his basketball journey moving forward but I'll take Owen Freeman over Kyle or Lampkin everyday of the week and twice on Sundays bc from my POV, he's clearly the better player. If healthy, he would be a tremendous addition to the roster that GMac is building, which needs another low post scoring big.

I'll leave this here

I suspect alot Iowa and Creighton fans have a bad taste in their mouths from paying alot of money for him and not getting much of a return.

Seems like the Iowa fans are claiming he quit on the team at some point. The Creighton fans are saying he got hurt, came into the season out of shape and never really got going after they spent a big part of their NIL on him.

As a follower of the Iowa program, Owen did have a finger injury his sophomore year and he had surgery mid-year and there was a lot of discussion/speculation about how serious it really was. He was a really good offensive player. As with any player under Fran McCaffery, it's fair to question his play on the defensive end.

As far as last season, he hurt his knee before the season. I don't watch Creighton so I can't comment on if that was the reason for his lackluster year.

Of the names mentioned so far, I'd be excited to bring him in if his health checks out.

I would imagine there are many jaded Creighton fans, considering the circumstances. Kinda like us SU fans with Nait George. George got paid and did nothing on the court. At least Freeman had an excuse for a bad season. Hard to get an injury like that and then blend into a new team and system without much time to rehab and get comfortable again. Plus, Creighton struggled in the BE last season, didn’t they? Not their usual season, for sure. That probably has their fanbase cranky as well.

Take the deal with Freeman. He’ll be 100% by the time practice starts.

yea I'm trying to figure out when their season went off the rails. Looks like he started through early December then they got beat down by 20 to Nebraska and he lost his starting spot.

A Q3 loss to KState at home so a 5-5 start to the season and they never got going. Finished the season like 3-9 and he was barely playing.

Obviously he was way overpaid for his output, (reddit threads say 1.8MM).

What interests me is that his Creighton #'s were identical to his Freshman year where he was Big10 Rookie of the year he just played half the mins each game. Was on the court only 11 mins a game last year, while his rookie year was 22 mins a game.

If you put this guy on the court healthy and 25 mins a game he should be a double double guy...

If the price is right, seems like you take him.
