Roster Snap Shot - Unit Breakdown as of Today

Candidates for an All ACC team….

DT: Watson and Perry
DE: Jobity (I am a big fan)
LB: nobody right now
S: Devin Grant
CB: Kerr (he held his own as a true frosh)

Regarding Grant, he played on a torn MCL all season and had to adjust to a new defense and a new position than the CB position he played all spring and the preseason. I think he makes a big jump up in 2025.
Especially agree with your Watson, Perry and Jobity call outs. Perry showed some serious bull rush strength when healthy this past season. What is Jobity weight roughly.? Could see him as a strong side DE if he is 285ish. Grant is interesting. On WRs he was getting burned frequently BUT if he moves to Barron's position his size 6'4 and speed 4.6 should match better to position responsibility.

Mcdaniels is the player you want to grow into a safety, already 6-3-195 coming in with 4.4 and 42 vertical a Tebucky Jones possible type player.

I think the staff was reacting to a couple of issues when Grant was moved to safety and Barron was moved to linebacker.

They had to come up with another LB to replace Wax. And Grant was an issue at CB. Moving him to safety and Barron to LB addressed a couple of areas and made a major difference in the effectiveness of the defense.

Anyway, I think if Grant had played safety all spring and preseason, instead of CB, it would have helped him. He will also presumably be 100% for the fall (anyone know if he had surgery for the torn MCL?). I assume if that is coming, it will wait until after the bowl game?

I understand Grant did have surgery right after the season and may not be playing in the bowl. He is not the only one.

Go Orange!

Thank you. That is unfortunate but if it means he will be 100% for preseason practice, it makes a lot of sense.

With Gould in the portal (I wonder if it is possible he is playing anyway), guessing we start Chestnut, Buxton and Clark at safety.

With Bellamy and Barnes out, we hvae Kerr and Lewis as the starters. Delaine and McDaniels as the backups.

Pretty scary lack of depth in the secondary.

Grant and Gould were the top two at the star. I wonder if Coach Robinson would consider moving Barron back there for the bowl game?

Regarding other players will not be playing, I am guessing Hatcher might be another. His injury looked pretty bad. Hope this is not the case.

Hatcher is on crutches with a large brace on his leg so he is definitely out.

Jalil Martin (6’2” 192) came to us from Nebraska in the spring of 2023 will likely get a chance to play Star. He has worked at safety and corner since joining Syracuse so he appears to be versatile.

If we avoid the complacency trap and play the way we can, our depth or any lack of depth) shouldn’t be an issue. Praying for a good game with good health to everyone.

Grant can hit. He had some of the biggest licks we put on opposing teams all year.

Roberts? Who's Roberts? I don't see anyone named Roberts mentioned in this thread and I don't see anyone named Roberts on the team.
Corrected it to Grant - I wrote out the post, left to do other things, came back and posted it without paying attention. That Meiers Creek Velvet Fog is a hell of a thing

Do you think David O might be moved to LB

Jobity played DT this year unless your predicting a move back to end

105 with McCord, LQA, and Sparrow - keeping them unit confirmed.

Have no idea what happens to the walkons

Apologize if I got the class status wrong (next year).

Jobity played DT this year

Most of the time he did a few times he moved to ( SDE )
Yes... the fronts were multiple (in the voice of Coach P) so in certain situations he was moved outside as was Watson but a majority of his snaps were at 3t

Thanks Go.

fwiw Bredell is a DB they said it during signing day presser

Looking at the line I feel we will have multiple players at 310 or more after winter workouts. Hope Edwards turns into that elite pass rusher.

Agree, there are enough heavy guys that he can play Strong side DE with Simmons backing up.
Three big, mobile guys who are all threats to push OL into the backfield, with a bunch of speedy guys making plays around them sounds great.

Nathan Nyandaro is going to get a lot of playing time at DE next season. He was the number 1 recruit in ALL of Canada and is 6'6 260! I'm waiting for confirmation to who from the 25 class will be enrolling in January. If he does that will be more reason to believe he will have a big season next year!

Also really excited about Pray and Gillians
