DYNO-MITE!!!!!Where RRRRRUUUUU?
hes beaten the meat to a poster of ray rice holding up the music city bowl trophy...awww their glory days
I thought our recruting class would take a larger hit(like 50%) but as a few days have passed it seems like the majority of them will still be coming to Rutgers.
I didn't get that impression from today's Star Ledger. They have a nice list on the front Sports page with all of the uncommitted recruits and those that had verbaled that are now shown as uncommitted (a fairly long list). Anything can happen between now and Wednesday, but I would bet that you guys take a significant hit.
Hasn't it been that way for a number of years? The only thing to show for it has been a 3rd place Big East finish. Yes, I realize that the Orangemen haven't been near a 3rd place finish for quite a while.Wish we could have held on to Schiano longer as it seemed everything was in place to be successful.
In 2010 SU ended 4-3, 1 game behind the three teams that tied for 1st at 5-2. I know that means we came in 4th, but still . . . .Hasn't it been that way for a number of years? The only thing to show for it has been a 3rd place Big East finish. Yes, I realize that the Orangemen haven't been near a 3rd place finish for quite a while.

I think RU lands Fuller, not Hamilton ... agree there will not be many decommits
It shows Rutgers has become a lot more then just Greg Schiano when the #1 and #2 recruits in NJ are still strongly considering Rutgers without a head coach...
Would be thrilled with either. Fuller announces today and without a head coach in place he really has to love Rutgers to commit being that he has 40 other offers to pick from. Hamilton will have to bond with the new coach quickly to hold off the Gators. Muschamp and six of his assistants came in full force to Hamiltons house last week to put on the full court press.
Honestly, I'm surprised that we still are in the conversation with either of them. It shows Rutgers has become a lot more then just Greg Schiano when the #1 and #2 recruits in NJ are still strongly considering Rutgers without a head coach...
whatever makes you sleep easier but in reality, the two kids had rutgers on their short list and were maybe even leans. i can imagine it's pretty hard to just cut one of your leaders off the list especially when it's the home team and you were seriously thinking staying home. now not so much.
i'd expect fuller to go play for Rich Rod and that would be his best move if he truly does not want to consider a position change; especially having zero idea what offense and schemes the 'new' rutgers will run.
as for hamilton, i'd still expect him to stay home because he has so much invested at this point. if you think it's rutgers and not schiano i think you're crazy but time will tell in the next few years; when we see where these type of kids ultimately choose, plus a new coach can't sell the snake oil like schady can with conference affiliation and all.
rumor mill sure seems like it's pushing towards flood.
I think having Schiano leave this late really helps you with retaining recruits. if he left 2 weeks ago, i think it would have allowed recruits more time to visit other places and look around.
Any way you slice it these two kids can go anywhere in the country to play and they know it. Who knows if either pick RU or not but I think you would have to agree that many presumed everything would collapse when Schiano took the Bucs job and that just hasn't happened.
Flood was at the basketball game with many of our recruits yesterday and also interviewed with Pernetti yesterday afternoon so that is why his name is leading the rumor mill. I heard Flood speak at halftime yesterday and came away quite impressed. My first choice is still Cristobal(who I think would be a tremendous fit as he is a great recruiter and good game day coach) but Flood is growing on me. Addazio will be getting an interview today I was told...
Coming off of a 9 win season and bringing back almost the entire team was pointing to a big year in 2012. Not to mention recruiting, although always strong, was breaking into a new level this year. We will never know what would have happened but this job is not a rebuild. The next coach(hopefully Cristobal) will inherit a very good team and a great recruiting class.
I think we will have a new coach in place by tomorrow either way...
other guys have been interviewed as well. floods name is mentioned the most right now because of the press conference. the presser was a bit curious and a pretty big tip off that they are going to hire him. look, how can anyone say all the assistants are going to stay if they hire from outside? No outside head coach candidate in their right mind would agree to taking the job and not having a say in who the assistants are.
anybody with an ounce of smarts did not believe everything would collapse because of the late timing. as was mentioned before had this happened 2 or 3 weeks ago then there would have been a lot more kids on the fence and visiting other places.
You are reading into the presser to much. Flood, as the interim head coach, had to come out and try to add some stability right now while coaches from all over the country are hard at work coming after our recruits. Many of them have multiple choices and our assistants and AD are doing a great job trying to keep this class together. You are having a tough time holding onto your recruits with the longest tenured coach in the BE so don't underestimate how hard it is to hold onto higher profile recruits with no head coach.
I am hearing that some of our top outside choices for coaches are willing to retain certain assistant coaches from RU. I would think that any new head coach who is smart would realize the value of having a few outstanding NJ/PA/NY recruiters on staff and would be excited about it. Cristobal mixed with some of the top RU assistants would be my first choice although I hear some new canidates have emerged as of late.
