370, 326, 281, 305 yards the last 4 gamesYou're overreacting. Offense is fine and will get better with slight tweaks not a wholesale switch to the spread.
that is not good.

I'm confused (surprising, right?). Why does your analysis compare Group A that includes two hybrids (Strickland and Phillips) and two RBs (Fredericks and Morris) against Group B that includes a RB (McFarlane), WR (Estime) and a hybrid (Lewis) with the conclusion that the Hybrid is a wasted position? Or do your stats take into account when they actually played the running back (Group A) and hybrid (Group B) position?
A better analysis would be
Group A - McFarlane, Morris, Fredericks
Group B - Strickland, Phillips, Lewis

Not to jump back in on this, but here goes.i broke it down by guys i think are good at running the ball vs guys I don't think are good.
i want less hybrid. if they're going to do it, just do it with strickland and phillips.
But, if Lewis is our best blocker from the H position, and you're not willing to give him the ball occassionally you might as well not put him in at H at all.
Does it change anything if #84 is in and if he gets a handoff you know that at best he's getting 3 yards? I like Lewis a lot, I just don't think you have to account from him to run the ball at all. Giving him the ball on handoffs doesn't change that. Not to jump back in on this, but here goes.
I understand the premise, run the ball with good runners. Common Sense 101.
But, if Lewis is our best blocker from the H position, and you're not willing to give him the ball occassionally you might as well not put him in at H at all. Because if I'm a DC and I've got my Grad Assistants pulling tendency and personnell reports, I know that when 84 is on the field, what formations he's on the field for and that they're either running with him as a blocker or utilizing one of their pass sets out of that formation, which I can also sort out. It makes gameplanning significantly easier.
So although I'd like to say that It should go Phillips 1 and Strickland 2 - I believe that Lewis is significantly better from an assignment and blocking standpoint. Otherwise he wouldn't be in that position.
*As an aside, I'm not a fan of his position either. I think it's just where he best fits given the offense and the personnel.
It really does, not because you're so nervouse about him breaking a big one, but you've got to be able to defend against another alternative. And our offense is specifically designed to make the defense make a decision. Even a significant number of our plays that don't look like a true option, are triple options or RPO's.Does it change anything if #84 is in and if he gets a handoff you know that at best he's getting 3 yards? you don't have to use hybrid packages on every playBut two of the guys that are in the "good at running the ball" are hybrids, while only one is in the "don't think are good" group.
What you're really saying is don't have lewis run the ball, bench McFarlane and stick with just throwing it to Estime.
I think the board consensus agrees with you on Lewis, Fredericks is now the starter so the coaches see what you (and many others) have seen, and we'll see what happens with Estime going forward.

What having him at receiver does is eliminate Cornelius, and Avant, and giving Strickland more playing time. Ishmael, and Estime aren't playing every snap, so Lewis is the best replacement, and Strickland is the best replacement for Phillips. That gives Eric the best players in the game to make plays, which is what this offense is about. There is no 3rd receiver. To get Lewis on the field lined up wide, he's replacing Ishmeal or Estime. Inside, he's replacing Phillips or Strickland.
He's good enough to get snaps - but anywhere you line him up, you're taking a faster and more dynamic player off the field.
I don't mind him as an XB. Has made lots of big catches from the position. His runs are dumb.

average of 2. median of -.5

another reason to sh!tcan the hybridAlso - I'm not sure we know that Strickland does all that the job requires just yet. He def passes the run with ball metric - but routes and blocking - don't know.
another reason to sh!tcan the hybrid
why not have lewis and strickland do the they're good at?
we have guys do stuff they're not good at because we hope it fools the defense. stop trying to fool them. just run and throw to guys who are good at running or catching
Well yeah that's our offense this season, so what else could it be?
