Rvls currently has us at #48 and 1245 points but that’s wrong.

Counting up our commit’s points, the total should be 1320 which is actually good for a #45 rating; not 48. 20 points behind WVU and ahead of VT and Nit State by a fair margin

Doubt the slight is intentional but they haven’t computed it right. Here’s how they assign points:

What is the formula?
Rivals Rating points + Rivals250 Bonus Points = Total Points

Rivals Rating (RR) Scale (Top 20 rated commitments)

(Rivals Rating = Points)

6.1 = 150 points
6.0 = 135 points
5.9 = 120 points
5.8 = 105 points
5.7 = 90 points
5.6 = 75 points
5.5 = 60 points
5.4 = 45 points
5.3 = 30 points
5.2 = 15 points

*Prospects without an assigned rating will count for no points. All FBS committed prospects will have a rating once evaluated and rankings are updated.

***Prospects in the top 250 get bonus points. I’m not putting that here because we don’t have any.

If we pull off Reese and Killins we’d be sitting at 1500 points which is good for #36 as it stands today.

Seems foolish to give "bonus points" when the top players already earn the most points.

Are you assuming the only mistake is with SU. If everyone is properly calculated, SU could be 55th.

That's 75 point difference, which happens to be Walton's point value. Wonder if it's timing in the database.

It was at 1215 before Walton's commit; 1245 after. I've been watching it and making notes.

When all is said and done, if this class is anywhere above 50 it's a huge victory. Only three times over the last 13 years has a recruiting class been ranked above 50. If it's in the 50-60 range is still a big win given we revamped the entire class and I would guess that if it remained the same as it was, it would have projected much, much lower.

We were 74th when we tried to keep the band together and kept Shafer on. 118th when Marrone was hired. Even last year we were 60th, and that was considered a pretty good class.

I may be wrong but I think Rivals only uses points from your top 20 recruits to calculate their rankings.
Well, it does say exactly that in the original post.

What is the formula?
Rivals Rating points + Rivals250 Bonus Points = Total Points

Rivals Rating (RR) Scale *** (Top 20 rated commitments)***

Seems like the mystery may be solved.

well there you have it; 1245 looks accurate. I skimmed over that part. Thanks for proof reading it.
