We are currently tied for 50th in Sacks allowed per game, but that is a faulty stat given that we throw the ball so much. A lot of the teams ahead of us barely throw the ball. That being said, the next two games will be very interesting.

Sacks per game
Pitt tied 5th
VA Tech 7th

Miami is also tied for 14th along with UNLV and we did well there (38 points and 0.0 sacks)
Cal is tied for 21st.
BC is tied for 44th.
NC State is 67th.
Ohio tied for 68th.
Stanford tied for 86th.
UConn tied for 102nd.
GA Tech tied for 115th.

Five our next 6 games are against 5 of the top 6 teams on our schedule in terms of Sacks per game. We have only played one Top 66 team and in that gave gave up zero sacks. Outside of the first half vs Stanford (4 sacks), we have given up only 4 sacks to FBS teams. We will see against Pitt if this is for real.

27th in sacks allowed percentage

Obviously those stats don't tell the entire story. We have done almost primarily quick short passes for the past 3 games since the Stanford DL seemed to destroy us. They had 4 sacks that game and have only had 9 total sacks on the season. Since then we have adjusted our offense around the OL not being good at pass blocking and pretty poor at run blocking. We're making it work. I think we are going to struggle a bit more vs Pitt and Miami but its hard to know how much. When you throw it quick, teams can only get in so fast.

I watched some of the Cal-Pitt game. Pitt blitzed A LOT. Cal's TE had a huge game when he was the hot route in the seam and their QB could get the ball out. Our O-line needs to be able to keep their heads on swivels.
Oh man if only we had an NFL caliber tight end /s

hmmmm Vt vs Syr aught to be interesting.

It's just to bad James isn't a WR, instead of a RB. His speed could eliminate a lot of pressure up front. But we have no idea if he can catch the ball.
And if he could he probably would have already played.
