Vanderbilt tight end Turner Cockrell dies after year-long battle with cancer

Turner's younger sister is very good friends with my Goddaughter. They come from a really good family. I cant imagine losing a child for any reason - let alone a healthy D1 athlete to a failing body at 21 years old. Absolutely heartbreaking. The dr's told the family just last week that he had about 3 months to live.

Not that there is much correlation to this story, but his sister has spent a few weeks the last few summers on Skanaeteles.

It's sad when anyone dies from that disease, but especially so when it's a young, otherwise healthy person.

Loss of life at such an early age is a tragedy. Simply put, it isn’t fair.

Sorry for the loss but uplifting to hear of the team support for Turner and his family. Great that they are supportive in their time of need.
