Sad

You think Northwestern got Syracuse's best in the 1st half?

Oh we'll I'm sure they will give us a redo once they understand they didn't receive our best.

By the way, whose responsibility is it that they get our "best"?

A bit overstated, we got beat by a really good team that clearly plays together and has for years.

I liked the young talent on the field more than the older talent.

The way I see it: If this team is to get to 6-7 wins we will know in the next two weeks.

Let's be honest...Wagner just got upset by Division 2 Merrimack at home

and Tulane lost to South Alabama ( a newbie program like UTSA) at home.

We should be able to work on issues (play selection, player packages) against Wagner and still win by 17-21 points. Tulane is having some issues like us but we should be able to win by 10 points.

We get to 2-2 and win both games by comfortable margins we have hope. I do fear the Clemson game. I think we can hang with them but thoughts of sold out crowds and an upsets look like a pipe dream now. I know our CNY fanbase and out of the local area alumni base...if we are 2-2 at best we get 43-44k in there. The good TV slots surely vanished after the o-2 start. I don't see anything better than ESPN2 now and that is mostly off the respect Clemson will receive and the novelty of SU's first ACC game.

Fortunately for us I see wins with Wagner, Tulane and Wake Forest. BC is still likely. I put NCState and Pitt as too close to call. Maryland looks like we'll be an underdog now. Maybe we can steal another game like GTech. So to sum up I see us right now at 5-7 wins depending on how fast our team/staff gels. I don't think we are as hopeless as we saw in the first half of NW but thoughts of 8-9 wins preseason was a pipe dream. Sadly I drank the kool-aid like I usually do in early August and switched my last spring 6-7 wins prediction to 8 wins for the season prediction contest.

Bottomline: Fight and get to 6 wins. Getting to a Tier 3 bowl game somewhere should be our expectation right now. This will still create momentum as long as we don't get blown out GTech 2004 style in the bowl game.

We were always going to get boatraced by Clemson and FSU. They in the 4o's, us in the teens. Nothing has changed that.

Wake and BC are not good, both at home.

The season is going to turn on how they do against Pitt, Maryland and NCst.

Correct me if I'm wrong...both QBs ran the no huddle hurry up, Allen before Halftime and Hunt at the end...why did Hunt look so much more in control?

That's what I cannot figure out either. But the team looked more organized in that last drive than they did all game.

Just trying to see the positive.

I'm the coach come this week:

I pull in both Allen and Hunt and say this: Hunt you're starting. You get 3 series in the first half. Then Allen gets the next 3 series. I'll decide after that how I play the rest of the game. But the QB spot is open and might not be decided next game.

This is correct. All this talk about the players loving Shafer makes me think he's soft. Saban's players don't love him, he runs them hard and they win.

Shafer and soft? What?

That's exactly what the staff should be doing. Despite our awful start we are blessed with 2 upcoming cupcakes and a bye week before Clemson. Play them both so Shafer can with confidence know which QB should guide the team into our inaugural ACC campaign.
