Just want to say I’m LOVING what Sadiq brings to this team. His intensity, desire to play shut down defense has been a missing piece to SU basketball.

I think he’s the best glue guy we’ve had in a very long time. The player that just makes everyone better when he’s on the court because of his sheer presence. It’s no coincidence our defensive intensity picked up 10x when he was on the court yesterday.

Completely different player, but I think he’s the best glue guy we’ve had since Josh Pace.

Josh Pace was the best glue guy we have ever had so I’d say that’s a big compliment.
Both lefties, so maybe there’s something there…

Josh was a mid range guy and did it thru passing, hustle and his occasional floater that was unstoppable. I don’t recall him being super vocal.

I think Sadiq is, or will, be doing it thru his vocal presence, defense intensity, and general super competitive nature. He seems to get genuinely pissed off if the other team inbounds a pass successfully or makes a shot.

I do agree that Sadiq White is incredible. What I am impressed is his willingness to "DO YOUR JOB" aspect of his game. He does what the coaches ask of him for the moment and he can do more. Frankly, after Freeman, he may have the biggest upside. I'm not discounting Kyan Anthony at all. Sadiq is a better defender, and from what I saw he has decent shooting technique and he is better putting the ball on the floor than what we have seen. Number of times saw him get a rebound and start dribbling. For a big man he is smooth.

I believe his rebounding needs to improve with better positioning. He gets to close under the basket and gets shuffled away from a rebounding opportunity. He will adjust as he gets used to the college game.

Pace was sneaky good on the boards, too. We don't win the chip without him snagging some monster rebounds.

He was also the embodiment of “stay ready, won’t have to get ready”. He had a lull mid season 2003 where he didn’t play much, but when he was called, he performed and played way bigger than his height and weight.

When was the last team we had two guys who just focus on defending. JB would die for this team to play zone. They have the length he liked everywhere and they can cover ground.
