I’m not even talking about his minutes being clearly cut in half with Donnie back… he just doesn’t have the intensity he did. He was being talked about as our best defender early in the season on the broadcasts. Even covering guards at the perimeter at times. He was skying for rebounds and contesting most stuff at the rim. Now, it’s a pretty automatic bucket if you get the ball anywhere near the block with him guarding you.
He’s way too good of a player for him to be falling into the 5min a game category and us not knowing if he helps or not when he’s out there.

I was thinking the same watching the past few games. Sadiq clearly hit the wall. Offensive skills are not there. And his defensive prowess has cratered. On a related note, when he or Souare enter the game, nothing good happens, just a soul crushing loss of momentum

I had high hopes for him this year, but I really hope he is back with us next year. There’s a world where only Kiyan returns next year if the expected turnover happens, which wouldn’t be ideal.

He runs his mouth while impacting the game once every three games. Officials aren't going to put up with that. Nobody knows who are so just shut up and play.

This was kinda what I expected from having seen his high school games and highlights. He was able to dominate at that level with athleticism, but I doubted he would be able to just be a dunk show in college. Everyone has hops and most players he’s going against have superior maturity/experience and strength. He didn’t have the rounded game from HS that he needs now, and who do we have on staff to learn him up? Guards.

He does need to temper his ‘temper,’ though. Emotional control, I hope, will come with maturity, and maybe that technical will be the turning point.

I hope he stays, though. Someone in the last(?) game related him to Hak, and how they may have been similar at this stage—as freshmen—and how Hak made a significant level-up with skills for his soph season. That true? My sports memory just has sketchy blurs.

I laughed when the announcer said that. I have a much more positive memory of Warrick's freshman season than I currently hold of White. Hak started from November until the end of January on a team that was ranked in the top 20 thru that period. Warrick made decent contributions as a starter but came off the bench after that as Boeheim moved James Thues to starting point guard and Shumpert moved from guard into his starting forward spot. This occurred as the season melted down during the problems between Deshaun Williams and Preston Shumpert. I was impressed by Hak's rebounding and defensive skills from the beginning of his frosh season and feel he was our best big man and rebounder at the end of the year. He really shined during SU's postseason run in the NIT. Warrick really blossomed during his sophomore season and was a third team All Big East player in 2002-2003. I believe he had a much more developed game as a freshman than White currently has. Go Cuse!

That’s all from your memory? My god. I marvel at some of you guys, with the specificity of your recall.

Warrick was so thin his freshman season compared to many of the big guys in the Big East that I used to come away from games thinking man, he's really skinny to play in this league. But you could see from the beginning he had talents many players only dream about.
