and that includes the 3.85 points for home court. I wonder if the line will really open that high. Atmosphere will be crazy and the students are right on top of you.

Other interesting thing is he has Marquette as #1 in the country. Man, January 7th is gonna be big.

Pomeroy has us -10, so I'm thinking the line is gonna be 8 or 9.

There won't be students, or at least not as many, due to winter break.

That sounds high to me. Before I saw this thread I had -6 in my head.

CAN'T start slow. I was at the Pitt game last year. That Pitt 19-0 start was insane. We came out SO flat and that run of theirs must have been a record time-wise for a run that big. It happened so quickly. Our response with the 17 or 18-0 run was almost as impressive but so much energy was spent that it was catch up the whole game. That was one of strangest first halves I've ever witnessed. Obviously Pitt was better than NC St. but the moral of the story is start fast. SU gave up so many dunks and fast breaks in that 19-0 run so the already jacked crowd got into it even more.

Question about SU-Alabama back in '04.

Did Alabama win due to a smart attack against the zone, or was it something else?

It's been so long and I like to forget details about elimination games.

What really bugged me was how the announcers kept talking about how incredible that Pitt run was, and never really mentioned the fact that we had a run nearly just as impressive that just about tied the game up.

That's a good question. I was thinking about that too. I think they really attacked the zone well and hit their 3s (Earnest Shelton?). They were pretty athletic from what I remember. Warrick had one of the better dunks of his career in that game but that's about it for SU highlights.

We came out lethargic from the start against Bama and they hit 8 three's in the first half.

This did happen though

They played great defense, and we couldn't make any shots. I think they played inside out very effectively

Wasn't that the year of big runs for SU? I tried to check the archives but my memory isn't what it used to be. So to remind me please what was the year we kept getting ourselves in these massive holes and then make these unbelievable runs ...it became so pervasive that the announcers kept mentioning that SU down 100 points but don't worry they haven't made their run yet ... kinda thing.

Was it the Wes team? I remember they got buried early in a couple of games and pulled off wins. @ DePaul comes to mind. My memory is shaky myself.

I think that was '06. Nova, UCONN and others always seemed to be up 10-0 before you could blink.

It began, in my mind, with 1/16 vs. UCONN and ran for 5 straight games

1/16 UCONN Down 12-0
1/21 at NOVA Down 12-0
1/23 at PITT Down 7-0
1/29 SHU Down 8-0
2/1 Rutgers Down 5-0
2/8 at UCONN Up 4-0 (lost game 73-50)

Also, in '03 we came back to win a ton of games, especially the last home game vs. Rutgers.

Valentines day, 2010. Wes had a gigantic dunk at the end.

They pretty much dominated us.

Ahh I remember that. Was dating my now wife at the time. She was not excited that we had to sit in the bar for the game, before we could go to Vday dinner lol.

Seemed like we were down 5-10 points the entire game, but we did have 1 big run midway through the 2nd half that either tied the game or put us up 1. But after that alabama just slowly took control of the game again. I think that game was a classic case of "looking ahead." We were defending champs, we'd won 8 straight tourny games so they were probably a little overconfident, alabama was only an 8 seed who upset #1 stanford so we probably relaxed a little, plus im sure they had their eyes on uconn in the elite 8.

8 is high, this will go down to the wire, i think its closer to a pick em

I cannot understand the thinking that this game will be close. This is the same NC State team that couldn't beat NC Central by more than 5 points at home. Yikes.
