Sagarin has SU around -8 over NC State.....

I cannot understand the thinking that this game will be close. This is the same NC State team that couldn't beat NC Central by more than 5 points at home. Yikes.
Yes, but they were probably looking ahead to playing us a bit.

NC State is decent. They only lost, on the road, by 4 to the same Stanford team that nearly beat us. They still have Wood, the kid that made 6 three's vs. us last year. Basically the same team that had us down 6 in the 2nd half at the Dome last year.

In the end, I think we win because we're a much deeper, more talented team. But the game probably won't be a cakewalk.

They were probably looking ahead in that game. Wolfpack will have comparable athleticism and lets not forget that we barely beat them in the Dome last year with one of their key guys out.

We came out lethargic from the start against Bama and they hit 8 three's in the first half.

This did happen though

If that's not a foul on the Alabama player, we might as well not even have refs.

Wasn't that the year of big runs for SU? I tried to check the archives but my memory isn't what it used to be. So to remind me please what was the year we kept getting ourselves in these massive holes and then make these unbelievable runs ...it became so pervasive that the announcers kept mentioning that SU down 100 points but don't worry they haven't made their run yet ... kinda thing.

The Pittsburgh 19-0 game? That was just this past season; it was our first loss.

2003 sticks in my mind as the year of the comeback.

CAN'T start slow. I was at the Pitt game last year. That Pitt 19-0 start was insane. We came out SO flat and that run of theirs must have been a record time-wise for a run that big. It happened so quickly. Our response with the 17 or 18-0 run was almost as impressive but so much energy was spent that it was catch up the whole game. That was one of strangest first halves I've ever witnessed. Obviously Pitt was better than NC St. but the moral of the story is start fast. SU gave up so many dunks and fast breaks in that 19-0 run so the already jacked crowd got into it even more.

Pretty much goes without saying against any opponent...can't start down 19-0 and expect to win, but what about the upcoming NC State game do you find comparable to that Pitt game?

State had a good rally to take the lead at the end of the first half against Indiana. They lost, but as we saw this weekend the Hoosiers are alright. I expect a close game. Do the Pack have a game this week? If not, that is a good amount of time to prepare for the zone.

Seemed like we were down 5-10 points the entire game...I think that game was a classic case of "looking ahead.".
It was a classic case of having only one bullet in the chamber.

Nothing. I just said that Pitt last year was a better team than this NC State. Just can't afford to start slow against good teams obviously.

The students may be on break but this being a state school I think enough of them live close enough to show up and make an impact.

North Carolina Central isn't a bad mid-major btw. I think 8 pts a tad high here ... NC State better than that ... and at home... against #1 ... post JB's NC comments ... hmmmm what else. SU still wins with great defense. Shut down Wood and Leslie ...OK all done, SU wins by 4

According to their chat board, all student tickets have been picked up. A lot of talk on that board about being up for the game and being loud. The student section totally surrounds the court.
