Sagarin says Clemson -6 over Syracuse...

different good news here is that sagarin must not think much of nc state at all
He has Syracuse vs. NC State on a neutral field as a pickem/SU -1

Do you think NCS defense is that good or did Clempson have an off game?
We had an off game but it is hard to win on the road in conference...especially on a Thursday. You guys will find out how tough playing in the ACC on the road is soon.

Beating NC State looks to be the key to us having a shot at a bowl game this season - it will be a huge game and they seem to be playing better and recruiting better than in the past with their new staff.

I came to the same conclusion. Looking at Sagarin's ratings it looks like Wake, Pitt, NC State GT and MD (I think MD & GT are over rated) are the key to a bowl for us. Winning four of six. Staying healthy is going to be key.

BTW we don't know what FSU really is yet but the game is at FSU so that will be an uphill battle.

Great game against Georgia but you looked out gunned up front for a lot of the NC State game. I really don't know what to think. Wake is not such a tough place to play. If you guys have problems with the Deacons I will be surprised.

BTW give you guys a lot of credit for your SOS. Even so, you have a good shot at going 10-1.

We've had our fair share of struggles in Winston-Salem believe me. The game is in Clemson and its homecoming. I don't see us having many problems with Wake.

We play UGA next year too. Are we only going to play 11 games this year?

Yeah, we get it, we've never played a tough conference road game before.

Well, I have no opinion on your last game against SC. Hope you beat them but it the last game of season and no telling what injuries wither team may have buy then.
Missed that Wake is home game for you.
Outside of SC, I guess you only have to worry about away games at Virginia and MD after we beat you in the Dome.
I think you will bury MD.

Yeah, we get it, we've never played a tough conference road game before.

Well, I have to agree that Big East away games are not exactly ACC road games. On the other hand, we are pretty good road warriors - ask Mizzou, WVA and L'ville.

You must be under 30 years old or you have lost your long-term memory. We used to play conference games at BC, VaTech and Miami, back when Miami actually had a home crowd. I think those teams might be in the ACC.

Pre-BigEast conference, the annual schedule of PSU, WVU, Pitt, BC, etc, were pretty much conference games because we played them all every single season, alternating home and away.

In no way did I say that Dollarbill. All conference games on the road are tough was all I was saying regardless of the conference.

Fair enough, I'll chalk it up to the shortcomings of internet discussion. Maybe I'm a little defensive about this topic. I have a lot of ACC people in my family who have been telling me non-stop that we aren't ready for the step-up in competition that the ACC brings (they include hoops:crazy:too).

IMO, There's no way the actual line will open anywhere near -6 because of the amount of money that would flow Clem right away. Just look at the way some of you are salivating at it. lol
BTW did anyone listen to all the pundits who thought the Giants getting one at Carolina was a gift. I wonder how many peeps took the G-Men.

I am more than twice 30! What I said is accurate. I wasn't referring to ancient history. I was referring to the simple fact that the Big East was simply nowhere near the ACC in any football respect - that's why we left. Va Tech, Miami and BC have not been in the ACC for what, 20 years? Playing at Rutgers, South Florida, East Hartford, Heinz Stadium and Cincinnati is not even on the same scale as the ACC venues. Anyone who thinks that has not been to too many ACC games. West Va and perhaps L'ville are the only venues that come close.

We will do just fine in the ACC. We are an experienced big-time football program and there are not too many things that will surprise us. (We beat Mizzou on their homecoming in front of a large hostile crowd). But this is a different league altogether when it comes to fan base and hostile venues - that is all I am saying. Fortunately, we have one helluva hostile venue of our own.

Clemson is not ready for the step-up in competition in ACC hoops and we've been here since inception.

Come on have you ever tried playing at Temple?

I personally view the ACC as more of a finesse league in football, call me crazy. I think the Big East was more of a hard hitting physically league.

Step up in competition...when you back out Fl State and Clemson, not really at all.

don't mention those dirty words "West Virginia" to a Clemson fan as they will think the burning couches scored another td . To the thread topic I think the line will end up around 11 or 12 in vegas

I think the numbers bore that out over the last bunch of years. Big East defense has always been respectable overall - minus when Cinci got Tebowed in that BCS game.

I'll have what he's having. Did not expect a line that low.
