Slavitt's Twitter thread mentions two tests would give you 99% success rate. It's MUCH cheaper and much faster. So doing two tests would not be nearly as onerous as it is right now.

if you combine it with pool testing you can do way more tests faster and still get good accuracy.

if you are testing 3-4-5 times a week when you need to, the accuracy becomes was less of an issue.

NBA has been using it and happy with it. others have one as well. it wont be the only one and better ones are not far behind either.

I don’t believe the current EUA covers pool testing. Nor does it cover asymptomatic screening. It is authorized as a diagnostic test in symptomatic persons.

A bit of positive news amidst this blight.

There are several saliva based tests with EUA’s. This is important because the method does not require RNA extraction. You essentially get to skip a step, so it is more efficient.

Most importantly, it uses supplies and reagents that essentially every lab that runs COVID PCR tests now already has and they are giving it away. Nothing is proprietary. No new equipment. Nothing to buy from the developers.
