It's been a few years now, but I used to travel to San Jose frequently on business. Here are a few of my old favorites for your consideration:
Il Fornaio - really good Italian restaurant in the St. Pierre Hotel, across the street from the San Jose Convention Center.

One of the original Gordon Birsch microbreweries is located here, too, also not far from the arena.
