The Orange will continue competition on Saturday at 12 p.m., against Bethune-Cookman and finish the day with a rematch against Jacksonville at 2 p.m.The Notables

Corinne Ozanne roped her 100th career hit to load the bases, leading to Syracuse's first and only run of the game against Akron the following at-bat. She later rocked her fourth home run of the season in the seventh inning of the Jacksonville game, forcing extra innings. She's riding a seven-game hitting streak.
Jocelyn Cater struck out 16-of-33 batters faced in 7.2 innings of work against Jacksonville.
Maddi Doane has now reached base in all seven games this season out of the leadoff spot.
Despite recording a RBI, Sammy Fernandez was held without a hit against Jacksonville, snapping a six-game hitting streak.
In her loss against Akron, Sydney O'Hara threw seven innings and allowed just two runs while striking out six and giving up just one free pass. The performance lowers her earned run average to 2.67.
O'Hara has also recorded seven hits in the last five games, raising her batting average to .292. She picked up three hits today.
Danielle Chitkowski was clutch against Jacksonville, picking up two hits and two runs batted in with her first home run of the season. She now has four hits and three RBI in her last three games.
Alyssa Dewes was also clutch against Jacksonville out of the nine spot. She recorded two hits, a run, a walk and a stolen base in the game.
Pitching Dual Doesn't Fall In 'Cuse's FavorAfter a wild pitch in the first allowed an Akron runner to take third, the Zips scored their first run of the game on a single to left. In the bottom of the inning, Syracuse followed up with a run of its own after Ozanne's 100th career hit to load the bases and Wambold knocked Doane in to score. Both teams were held silent until Akron's Alyssa Nicholas got ahold of a pitch and gave it a ride to left for their second run of the game. The run was all the Zips needed as they were able to hold Syracuse at bay the rest of the way. Late Surge Falls Short Jacksonville homered to center in the second to take a 1-0 lead and then tagged the Orange for three more on a bases clearing double in the third. Cater shut down the Dolphins the ensuing four innings allowing Syracuse to make a comeback. Fernandez was credited with an RBI when she scored Dewes for their first run of the game in the fourth. Chitkowski then cut the lead to one with a two-run blast to center, scoring Kristina Kinsey. Needing a run in the seventh, Ozanne answered the call with her fourth home run of the year to tie the game at four but one was all Syracuse would get in the inning, forcing extras. In the eighth, Chitkowski singled to right, advancing ShaVonne Higgins to third with no outs. Annie Toczynski pinch ran for Chitkowski and stole second. Jacksonville was able to get a strikeout and catch a break after Higgins was tagged out at the plate trying to score on a wild pitch. Doane then lined out to the center fielder to end the inning. In the bottom half, Cater had runners on first and second no outs but was able to record her 16th strikeout of the game. The following at-bat, Cater got the ground ball but the Orange was unable to turn the double play to end the inning as the runner on second scored the winning run.
