Schertz: how close were we?

A guy from The Athletic was interviewed today on origin nation. I assumed he meant after the Syracuse offer, but he said St. Louis donors came up with a massive war chest for him that was bigger than Syracuse and double anybody else in their conference.
The rumor I've seen is that SLU will have $10 million this year, which is unheard of for an A10 school. If Schertz has that much money at his disposal, SLU should be a 30+ win team for the foreseeable future, which would put him in the running when Kansas opens up. Going to Syracuse would be a big risk because it would be a huge career set-back if he doesn't win.

I did not catch the whole interview, so I don’t know if he mentioned any numbers at all

Norlander citing that number.

If the reason we don't have Hop as coach is his salary demands and not the fact that he was a terrible head coach, then that once again has me very concerned about the mindset of everyone running the ship. Do any of these people actually follow college basketball or do they just make all their decisions based on vibes? I know people like Wildhack, but if he ever considered Hop then I am glad he is gone.

True. But our NIL war chest would’ve grown for Schertz and we would’ve gotten him as much Gmac once he was introduced to the fanbase and got everyone excited. I think the AD had faith he could fundraise big time for JS. The problem was upfront guarantees, and with Blair being a new guy on the scene, he doesn’t have the built in relationships already. I believe he would’ve gotten the same big time NIL with Schertz, but it would've taken more time since the donors didn’t know him personally.

I’m case you haven’t notice GMAC is SU’ s head coach JS is at STL. Let it lie. Big fish in a little pond. Let it go let’s concentrate on who and what we have. I am sick of we almost we should have BS. Get behind what we have. Get over if and buts you are driving me nuts. Old man out
